Barass to Hawthorn - Battle still needed?

Post: # 2076070Post Cordz2 »

Barass has requested a trade to Hawks - does this mean if they pay him what he is worth, Battle is still required? Not easy to bring in 2 seasoned and pricey defenders of a similar ilk.

Melbourne with May and Lever, who are the cornerstone of their side?

A year apart from memory.

Hawthorn supposedly have plenty of cap space to fit both players in their team.

The club has apparently given Battle a sizeable offer, so Hawthorn may only be left to pursue Barass:

Some guy called tony implied a couple of months back that the Saints weren't budging. Tones also implied that Joshy was leaving, just for the money

You got that one slightly wrong tony...on two fronts. I think we have had another think on what we're prepared to pay and I think Josh likes what he's seen with the last 8 weeks.
I can 100% assure you we will not pay overs. Josh will do what’s best for his family-as he should

You reckon he’ll go?

Reckon 55% chance he stays.

NFI really.

Don’t mind if he goes IF we get the first rounder as compo.

I'm not sure it will be a 1st rounder.

Sorry. I was a bit cryptic. I should have just posted the original from tony74 ( *from the Battle thread) I didn't agree with the implication that Josh was simply chasing $$.

Personally, I don't think Battle was offered anywhere near the money that was being rumoured.

I also reckon Hawks have decided that Barrass is their preferred target.

If it allows Sicily to play forward they are effectively securing the equivalent of a key forward.

How does Hawthorn get Barrass if he still contracted. I think he's better than Battle.
