Byrnes had the highest disposal efficiency of all our players today.
What is Hunter's disposal efficiency rate?

I really love seeing is solid body of confidence pushing his way through the opposition but I'm bloody scared of his disposal. Nevertheless, our kicking has improved greatly this year.

Kicked a pretty nice goal…

Also got the quick kick inside 50 which lead to Higgin’s goal. Might not seem like much, but Pou froze when he had the same opportunity 30 seconds earlier

He's a better kick than Seb Ross. He's a better kick than Jack Steele., Brad Crouch....and Mich Owens

Some on here are determined to downplay any decent performance by Ryan Byrnes.

No one ever said he was a superstar, but give him credit for his good performances instead of the constant "Yeah, but" comebacks when people give him some praise.

Byrnes is a handy player - fit as fk

Kicking has no depth and is limited- which is why he’s a fringe player

He is one of the most improved players on our list. I didn't think he'd make it a couple of years ago.

RTB's arrival saw the beginning of his development as a reliable senior player. Ross loves the Byrnes type. A hard working runner who applies great pressure. His kicking and decision making were the knocks on him, but both these areas have improved and his confidence levels have risen accordingly.

I do know, in his draft year, he slid down to pick 52 IIRC. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong. He was acknowledged as a leader in U/18s and was captain of the Sandringham Dragons.

He showed these qualities as soon as he arrived at the saints. He would contribute greatly in team meetings and was vocal on the track and in games.

His performance this year, particularly towards the end of the season have signalled his arrival as a regular, and an important one at that.

He does a lot of running, which goes unrecognized by most. Just like Darcy Wilson. Filling spaces and clogging opposition attacks.

He's a keeper and a future leader as was predicted when we drafted him. Well done, Ronnie!

He hit all his targets against Carlton and kicked a nice left foot goal.

Yes one of the reasons St Kilda won. He also was the one that pumped the ball forward that enabled Higgins to kick the winning goal.

I loved Byrnes ability to get back and help our defence against Carlton. We usually rely on Mason Wood to do that, but I noticed Ronnie took the responsibility and he relished the role.

Ronnie played more in defence and got most of his possessions in the backline or on the wing. Wood got most of his touches on the wing and in the forward line.

His heat map shows he spent 65% of time in defence.

Byrnes took a contested mark in the backline at a crucial moment late in the last quarter. I think it was shortly after Carlton hit the lead. If they got another goal at that stage, their momentum would have killed us.

Interesting point.

You want Butler to play to the percentages, which I agree with.
If Byrnes was biting off difficult kicks outside his range and turning it over, we'd be all over him.
He's playing within his kicking wheelhouse and using his talents which are - running, defence, hard at the contest and we are still picking fault because he's not being daring with his ball use by foot?

Byrnes will always be depth, he's a 23-30 on a list.
But give the guy some credit, he's playing to his potential, fit as a bull and gives it everything he has.

The day he gets cut he wont leave saying "I left anything in the tank to achieve my dream".

That's just the thing though to play wing you need elite kicking. Byrnes doesn't have the kicking to hurt sides.

You're generalising and you want to stick to your guns. No one is calling Byrnes a star, but you want to totally ignore his improvement as a footballer

Ronnie will continue to improve and he's earnt his list spot... unless you're blind. He played a very good game against Carlton.

I didn’t say it was a bad thing that he took easy options

Just stated that he did

Thought he played pretty well - had him in the best 6-8 players

Ronnie is selfless. With his running and with his decision making. He won a few contests and he attacked the footy when it was his turn.

The essence of a successful team is playing your role and doing the basics well.

It's up to the senior leaders and your star players to perform at an elite level consistently.
