Re: No AA Squad for Marshall
Buckley trying to justify Marshall's non-selection by saying his form dropped off in the 2nd half if the season just boggles the mind

Yeah but when we played the Dees this season, Gawn showed everyone he is far superior to Romomagnifisaint wrote: ↑Mon 26 Aug 2024 11:23pm You could say that Marshall has had a better season than Gawn based on Footywire.

Re: No AA Squad for Marshall
How could Marshall be left out and Xerri makes it on the back of one good season?
Marshall has been playing at an elite level for the past 3 years. He was unlucky to be overlooked for the final 23 last year.
He should have been rewarded for his body of work over time, which has always been used as a criterion when assessing selection in the past.
This should be the subject of an official rant by the president next time he visits "Woke Football League" HQ.

To Xerri best this season, Gawn next BUT Marshall comfortably next - Cameron must be there as part of the Collingwood nomination requirement rules.

Re: No AA Squad for Marshall
For around the ground work (old style follower) Marshall is easily AA and first picked.
He is a force, an endurance beast and another midfielder.
Unfortunately I think the selectors would be influenced by the way opposition clubs waltz the ball out of the centre against us, and maybe Roma's tap work is the reason he has not been selected.
No argument with Gawn & Xerri, but Cameron in front of Marshall???

Nasiah
AF Fantasy points this year 97.7 'elite'
Effective disposals 19.7 'elite'
You'd think they would at least pick him on DEI basis

Re: No AA Squad for Marshall
Nasiah just missed the cut in the Champion Data All-Australian team but they said ...he only just missed.
It's not based on the official AFL 44-man squad named by a selection panel.
We’re not looking at the All-Australian squad, this is purely off Champion Data's ratings system
FB: Nick Blakey (SYD) / Sam Collins (GCS) / Dan Houston (PA)
HB: Jack Sinclair (STK) / Jeremy McGovern (WCE) / Bailey Dale (WB)
C: Errol Gulden (SYD) / Patrick Cripps (CAR) / Massimo D’Ambrosio (HAW)
HF: Hayden Young (FRE) / Aaron Naughton (WB) / Harry Sheezel (NM)
FF: Brent Daniels (GWS) / Jesse Hogan (GWS) / Tyson Stengle (GEE)
FOL: Max Gawn (MEL) / Marcus Bontempelli (WB) / Isaac Heeney (SYD)
I/C: Zak Butters (PA) / Sam Flanders (GCS) / Max Holmes (GEE) / Dylan Moore (HAW) / Caleb Serong (FRE)
Hoyne acknowledged some of the glaring omissions, including that of Collingwood star Nick Daicos.
“The two biggest omissions (that people will ask about) - Where is Nick Daicos? And where is Chad Warner?,” he added.
“They are literally the next two players to come into the team.
“The next three defenders would be Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera, Dayne Zorko and James Sicily.
“The next three forwards are Ed Richards, Sam Switkowski and Charlie Curnow.
“The next ruck to come into the team would be Tristan Xerri.”

Re: No AA Squad for Marshall
The ladder dictates how many players from each club are considered. We were 6th last year and 12th this year.
Makes sense to me.
