Before 2002 we had won 35 out of a possible 193 starts. They had win 156 games against us.
In our first 120 games, we won only 18 matches against Carlton.
Before their last premiership in 1995, our previous 30 games against them had netted us only 4 wins.
Before tomorrow, our previous 35 matches have resulted in 26 wins to us.
Before 1989 our highest score against them was a pathetic114 points, in a loss. A score equaled or bettered by Carlton 37 times.
Since 1989 we have bettered that score 14 times.
Before 1991 our greatest winning margin against them was a very modest 53 points - Since 1991 we have bettered that margin 8 times.
Our winning % against the Blues was 16% before Grant Thomas took over as coach in 2001. It is now 26%.
Before 1993 we had only won 6 away games against Carlton at their home ground. We win two more in the next decade. WE have now won 20 away games against them.
In over 85 years before 1984, we beat them only 27 times - we have now beat them 26 times in the last 21 years.
This is actually won of the most stunning form reversals in the annals of professional sport.

I recall in the 1980’s when Hawthorn were playing at Princes Park - and not long after I commenced going to St Kilda matches with who I attended the games with (and still do with those who survive)

We had a box, it not being a Carlton game so the offer of the box was there from those we knew who followed Carlton (and ran Carlton)

St Kilda won - and the celebrations started being our first win at Princes Park in virtually the living memory of icon St Kilda supporters including an ABC celebrity who led the celebrations which continued well into the night - it was a night of legend the stories still told today

The record at Princes Park to that time was non existent

After North's past two games I think he and Zurhaar would be mad to stay. North Melbourne has a decade of this in front of them still. They will have some good players but won't have enough of them to rise up the ladder. And when they have injuries, they will fall back into what we saw yesterday.

I think it was their Pres. John Elliott making some derogatory remark about our club - something along the lines of why would he (Hamill) want to go to that rabble. Getting two number one picks (Rooey and Kosi) and then again Goddard the next year probably also helped us

Zurhaar recently signed a long term contract. He wasn't willing to put himself under pressure with the weight of expectation that comes with changing clubs

North Melbourne suits him. He'll have 4 good games per season and he'll be a slack arse for most of the year
