How Good Garcia

6 possessions in 15 minutes coming on as the Sub. Played the role to perfection. Run down tackle the cream of the cake. Got involved in lots of goals. Fantastic display by the kid.

He’s a jet

Will play 200 that I am certain

Watched him regularly in the vfl and can’t believe how good he is and HTF he was spotted by recruiters?! He wasn’t even playing in the champs or much TAC Cup

He’s as hard as a cats head and very quick and a tackling machine

Bit of Libba about him - but with more pace

That first play where he won the ball in a contest, dished it out, got it back under pressure and passed it to a marking forward (Hill maybe? Can’t quite remember)… just sublime.

I was a little facetious giving him a vote… but I reckon he was the match winner for us when he came on.

Needs to come in to the 22 next week

A huge influence in his limited game time tonight.

Hopefully gets a full game next week.

Hill came off with a back issue - so the sub may carry over to next week

Well done on the description skeptic. I was equally impressed with his his contest work and clean hands as I was with the disposal by foot to set up Jack Higgins - it wasn't Hill.

The kick to Higgins from Garcia was a stab pass that probably went about 4 foot high at its highest point. It was beautiful to watch.

Couldn’t be Hill as he was subbed off for Hugo.
Was it Higgins?

Anyway the kick was a bullet across the body.
Sublime.

Don’t know if many of you stick around after a game but our sub and emergency players have to do laps to get k’s into their legs

Not sure any emergencies last night would have to do that (maybe Garcia, as the sub, as he didn't get many minutes), as Sandy are playing their last game today.

What would be amazing if he plays in the twos today. That shows elite attributes!

I agree with B.M (see I don’t hate you all the time old fella) he has Libba characteristics.

Scallop has suggested Higgins and I think that’s correct.

Like you said however… incredible kick

The brilliant kick from Hugo was to Higgins and it was centimetre perfect! :)

He has carried his form into today's game for the Zebs. He should be something to watch next season.

Kudos to the recruiting team for nabbing him at 50, and to Hugo for grabbing his chance.

Looking back on the season, the recruiters have done well with their selections. Wilson ( pick 18) and Garcia would go much higher if that draft were redone today. Hastie (33) and particularly Schoenmaker (62) look to be value picks. Collard (28) is the question mark, but clearly he has skills so there is still hope.

Kudos to BM for getting us excited about Hugo.

BM does have a good eye for talent in the twos.

He was banging on about Rowan for a fair while when he was plying his trade in the twos

If I had to rank the lads we drafted last season

I’d have them
Wilson - pick 18 - comfortably top 10 at this stage
Garcia - pick 50 - 10->20 at this stage, will end up higher
Schoenmaker - pick 62 - would be 20-25 range
Hastie - pick 33 - about right
Collard - pick 28 - would be the only one who has fallen, possibly to a late pick/rookie. But has time and talent to get higher

Last years draft
I was absolutely rapt at draft time
Phillipou I rated top 6 to get him at 10 was excellent
He is proving to be better than his selection imo
Hotton I rated at time of drafting - he’s been disappointing - lucky to be re rookied has had some injuries but looks a bit off pace
Van Es I rated - injury hit and ordinary- probably delisted. Good size, good athlete, hands are poor, double grabs.
Keeler - great selection - he has the attributes to play that magical position no one can! (Except Darcy from Dogs) Forward/ruck!!!! He is light, but moves beautifully! Problem is probably his appetite for the contest! Is he strong enough to compete with 100kg defenders or worse 105-100kg ruckmen?
He has Paddy Ryder size - but probably not the competitiveness or ability - or maybe he does - because there is flashes. Just not consistency.
Spencer White or a player??? Not sure yet

McLennan is a back up utility defender in between size. Good overhead for his size. If he was 196cm we’d have a player - but he’s not. He’s a poor man’s Webster, or Paton

Heath - just needs more work on the track and in the Gym
He’s the opposite to Keeler
Has the size, and competes but lacks athleticism and ability

Out of curiosity who are you eyeing in the draft this year?

Any of the top 9 are equally as good

Style not ability
Josh Smillie - Cripps style beast inside mid
Jagga Smith - ball magnet 30+ppg player
Finn O Sullivan - complete midfielder
Luke Trainor - Jake Lever style
Sam Lalor - Jordan DeGoey style bull mid fwd
Harvey Langford - Bont/Finn Callaghan likeness
Sid Draper - Blue Chip 200 game Midfielder
Murphy Reid - I have ranked 9th but is a silky mid (Rozee)
Will Ashcroft - going to Lions

Just watched the second half again. Garcia was huge in going from scores level to the win.

I’ve been eyeing Finn O Sullivan and Lalor.

I wonder if we go 2x mids if Battle goes or we pick up Trainor to replace Battle. People on here go we are covered in Schoenmaker. I disagree.

I see Trainor like Lever and Schoenmaker more like a James Sicilly/Noah Balta mould.

Van Es might be delisted so we need some defensive talk stocks. Players like these don’t come this high in the draft very often.

Definitely reminiscent of an era gone by with a ‘stab pass’.
Great image Scollop - you even use the imperial measurement for us oldies 😉😇
