Two take aways aside from the great win. We looked much better with Garcia in the side, and we didn't miss Bonner at all.

Hunter Clark and Paddy Dow would make a great footballer if you could combine the two.perfectionist wrote: ↑Sat 17 Aug 2024 11:24pmHe goes at the ball unlike Paddy Dow who just seems to stand there and watch his opponent get it. He just seems to lack energy at the ball.

Incredibly bad first half
Incredibly good second half
Wilson, was very good - he’s a good player - never said otherwise
Doesn’t change my view that 8 weeks ago he should’ve had a week off - he was averaging 10ppg over a six week period

Great to see him trying to take the game on, hope he doesn't lose that edge.
Fell over and got tackled in the last, but created about 5 or 6 opportunities by taking the game on.

Turned the game in the 2nd half
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Agree about Dow. That's why the essence of a quality rebuild is to nail your draft picks with new talent, instead of chasing players that struggle at other clubs. Occasionally you get the latter right but drafting wisely is the key to success.perfectionist wrote: ↑Sat 17 Aug 2024 11:24pmHe goes at the ball unlike Paddy Dow who just seems to stand there and watch his opponent get it. The great zacsby
Hopefully you get an enforced week off for an abusive post
I thought Phillipou needed a spell last season - thought he was a gun
I thought Wilson needed a spell weeks ago - I think he is a gun
I thought Garcia should be in the team - absolute gun

So he got a goal. Doesn’t make up for the 3 probably that Geelong got from his poor efforts and turnovers.

Re: Match Thread - Saints vs Cats Round 23 2024
The implication being that you were right about Pou because when they sent him back to the twos he elevated when he came back?
Could it be that the club actually timed it correctly? Hence the bounce when _they_ made the call.
All signs point to us managing the development of our younger talent quite well over the last few years.
Windy, Owens, Nas, Pou, Wilson, Sharman, Hammer, Garcia.
The only one we haven't seemed to get right (yet) is King.

Great win tonight Saints. We were ready to walk home half way through the 3rd qtr if things didn't change and got worse, but - what a turnaround. Fantastic! So good to beat that smug Scott *rick

That all depends on instructions from the head coach.

Did I fracture your ego?
You have been man hunting this kid to be in the twos like it’s an obsession. You clearly have been proven wrong. So swallow your words and say “I was wrong” you old hag.

I’ve turned gay for him! Kid is a weapon. If you watched his game last week in the twos it was like he was possessed by B.M’s devil.

No
You were just abusive - and deserve a holiday
Your post was out of order
And quit the obsession with me, it’s childish

Yep BM won’t admit he’s wrong on Wilson
There are a couple of blokes on here that simply can’t admit they were wrong
BM and vortex main offenders
Having said that BM is on the money with many things

I like B.M and I do agree he’s on the money with a lot of things, but take some ownership and accountability and say “I was wrong” on Darcy Wilson. The Fireman wrote: ↑Sun 18 Aug 2024 10:10am Yep BM won’t admit he’s wrong on Wilson

Re: Match Thread - Saints vs Cats Round 23 2024
Over 4000ks away from Docklands stadium I was watching Kayo during the first half of the match and the morons with the mike's were appalling and undermining our club and coachng staff's competance and were sooo patronising. I turned the sound off and listened to SEN which was a bit better but I couldn't find a sync link so went Free-to-air for a while which was marginally better.
After half time the Sky (Kayo) shock jocks predictably changed their tune but although they think of themselves as 'the ultimate experts', they couldn't work out why we played so well after the old weekend farmers down the highway started panting for air and our fitness and skills came to light.
Why haven't the shock jocks seen we have been blooding young players in the big league for two years now and the kids are sure to improve after a time and possibly stand-out eventually?
What some of our fellow supporters wrote about certain players in this thread during the first half of the match was disgusting and I don't know how they can live with themselves. I'm a long way away from Docklands these days but at least I don't have to listen to doomsday supporters spewing irrational garbage.

Second guessing on the ground experts executing a long term plan can be ambitious for the amateur though.
As we see.

Re: Match Thread - Saints vs Cats Round 23 2024
I just watched the replay of last night. Luke Darcy is an appalling commentator, and Joel Selwood is excruciatingly boring , but I reckon Dale ( Daisy ) Thomas is excellent in the special comments role. He doesn’t seem to be used much , but he is way better than Selwood or Jobe Watson ( who offer no insight at all).
