Re: Changes v The Cats
I suggest Towball stays as he's strong and might be played at each bounce to shadow Dangerfield

Re: Changes v The Cats
Out: Wilson, McLennan
In: Garcia, Phillipou
I wouldn’t be surprised if McLennan is retained or if Paton is brought in to put a noose around the nipsy ones like Miers, Close etc..
Wilson had a very quiet second half last week. I think we rest him up against the Cats and then he comes in fresh against the Blues and puts in blinder and becomes favourite to take out the NAB Rising Star Award. A big game against Carlton will put his name up in lights and boost his chances of getting top votes**
**Last years winner was decided by an 11-person panel consisting of Gillon McLachlan (chair), Eddie Betts, Jude Bolton, Nathan Buckley, Kane Cornes, Andrew Dillon, Glen Jakovich, Laura Kane, Cameron Ling, Matthew Pavlich and Kevin Sheehan. Not sure who votes this year, but probably similar set-up

Mclennan out looks very one paced and struggled when the ball hit the deck.

Re: Changes v The Cats
McLennan is raw. No need to brand young players. If everyone had the same mindset we’d be ending 90% of our draftees careers

Its an observation and at this stage he needs to improve on both.

Re: Changes v The Cats
Byrnes definitely not out. Not sure what you saw but he worked harder than anyone on the field, was creative and generally made good decisions with ball in hand.
His decision making has definitely improved this year. He's slowly developing.

He can't throw the ball across his body when he's got time.

Re: Changes v The Cats
I totally agree not many players are super stars in the their first 0-50 games. Crikey if we were that tough on all our kids players like Sinclair, Marshall would have never played. The fact that McLennan has shown he is competitve at the level is enough to indicate that he has a future as he develops. In the VFL his intercept marking is a feature and when he brings that to the next level he will be a valuable player.

Re: Changes v The Cats
Get adventurous out Gus, Jimmy, Higgins and Caminiti, in Pou, Garcia, Ari and Moose, Byrnes sub.
If Moose doesn’t come up make it Keeler they can play forward and give RoMo a chop out in the ruck. Ari replaces Gus down back and Pou and Garcia forward but also getting time in the midfield

Re: Changes v The Cats
Thoughts
D'field spoilt Stockers season with a knee in the back R1. Will Liam tag Rodney.
Who tags Stewart. Caminiti?
R1 was a good debut for DarcyW, the return match will be interesting to see how he goes against class wingmen.
Owens to star, this is his kind of occasion.
BHill has to play one of his better games.
Looking fwd to the contest between players and coaches.

Re: Changes v The Cats
I was thinking about that earlier today. It was a dog act by Danger. Would love to get a win against the pussies. Payback is a biatch.

Ari won't be an 'in', based on reports about his VFL game
Sad to see Pou still recovering.
I'd keep Wilson, maybe JWeb still sub

Still has a lot to work on defensively... not to be too down on the kid, but this play in particular caught my eye reading the match report. Just gave up completely on the chaseWellardSaint wrote: ↑Thu 15 Aug 2024 2:11pm Ari won't be an 'in', based on reports about his VFL game
