Re: My Boy Coops
The only thing I was a bit disappointed about with Cooper was dropping a few early grabs when he got two hands on them.
Did the hard work and leap but couldn’t hang on, particularly in the first 1/4.
Had he clunked a couple his confidence from last week may have carried over.
He’s definitely competing, jumping and moving well. At least he made a contest and tried to bring it to ground.

Re: My Boy Coops
Anyone who singles Cooper out after that debacle is clutching at straws and hoping to save some sort of cred after saying that he was not AFL standard
He did as well as just about everyone else on the ground that were playing in the saints jumper
The kid is a keeper and those that are bagging him we really shouldn’t be paying any attention to them at all. Even someone with a PhD would realise that he is a keeper.

Re: My Boy Coops
Not just Sharman, but virtually all forwards missed very kickable set shots, including Higgins and Owens, who despite their flawed kicking techniques, are forwards who are paid to convert those types of opportunities.
Had we kicked 9.5. 59 instead of 5.9. 39 we would stil have lost by 65 points.
So despite the poor conversion, the midfield still has to shoulder most of the blame.
Steele should take his move to the wing as a slap in the face, unless he is too sore to compete.
Despite his disposal skills, he is not a winger's arsehole!
Dow needs to trust his kicking more, instead of instinctively handballing when in space.
He should have snapped at goal in the third, instead of handballing to a team mate under pressure.
Stocker threw hos weight around in the middle better than most did.
Owens was less effective in there yesterday, but I still prefer him there to half forward and he was another forward who flew for lots of hangers like Sharman and let his opponents clean up the spiltvpills by taking out his team mates!

Re: My Boy Coops
And we were smashed in the forward line, dropped marks, shanked kicks for goal, a lack of defensive pressure, how are those basics the fault of other players up the ground?

Re: My Boy Coops
The more you win clearances, the more chance you have of kicking goals according to the maths. Our crumbers mostly went missing when the ball did get to our forward half and hit the deck from contests, and as Lyon stated, Higgins got well and truely beaten. We also got beaten generally in the middle of the ground, so our half backs lost a lot bit of effectiveness when they were trying to attack. A terrible game tactically for us.

Someone on here won’t be happy with that news.
