He knew...before even posing them...he knew before the SEN story yesterday.
Therefore...for him to be putting it out there I reckon it's true that we shopped him around. It's embarrassing that we wanted to trade out our captain last year.

Got it right? He got in half an hour before my mum broke the news to me, and I'm pretty sure she's not well connected at the club!D.B.Cooper wrote: ↑Tue 30 Jul 2024 9:16pmCurly? lol.Josh Battle wrote: ↑Tue 30 Jul 2024 8:11pmThe op has a connection with insiders at the club, so he already knew the answer to his questions imoD.B.Cooper wrote: ↑Tue 30 Jul 2024 6:58pmIt's coming from SEN, because their are hundreds of reporters around town all looking fir a different angle.

Yes he got it right when Ratts was sacked, but that is the only thing he has got right

Victim mentality is still well and truly alive amongst a section of St Kilda fan!

Re: Steele trade talk
There is a few hundred journos trying to make a living out of AFL footy.
When they don't have had evidence, it certainly appears opinion becomes at least conjecture.
When repeated often enough, the conjecture becomes "fact".
Example: how many reporters ran with the fabricated story that Gresham was going to Essendon and we would also trade the compensation pick received to Essendon for Sheil? Ludicrous deal for us, Gresham and his compensation pick for Sheil

Re: Steele trade talk
Nothing is fact until it happens. Speculation (club x should try to get player y) is different from rumor (player z is open to being traded) and all the rumor in the media has a basis somewhere, the question is where. Even the worst journos have some kind of source, and it is reasonable to expect that journos at the biggest media companies are pretty well connected.D.B.Cooper wrote: ↑Wed 31 Jul 2024 10:59amThere is a few hundred journos trying to make a living out of AFL footy.

For that Sheil deal, we have been in to him for a while, so maybe trading the compo for him was the bombers trade position, so that's how it got in to the media? And when they wouldn't go lower we pulled out. Or maybe that was our position to try to convince the bombers to pay overs but then after the compo went through we pulled out? Or maybe the AFL put a stop to it because they wouldn't sanction pretty blatant manipulation of the compo system. Hard to know exactly what happened, but pretty believable that there was some element of truth at the core of the rumor.

Re: Steele trade talk
We were into Sheil at the end of 2018 when he was 25
Certainly have not been into him since
FFS
He is 31 and on huge coin, he’s no better than Seb Ross ATM
Probably never was

There are a few in the commentary, sportcast, journo game that seem balanced and are pretty accurate.
But most are just coin puppets dancing the tunes
