AFLCA coaches votes rnd 19
Finally...Sincs gets noticed
9 Tim Membrey (STK)
8 Jack Sinclair (STK)
6 Rowan Marshall (STK)
5 Jack Steele (STK)
1 Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera (STK)
1 Josh Battle (STK)
No West Coast Eagle player earning even a solitary vote
They've got a hard road ahead... but being a very wealthy club... they'll come good in 3-4 years if they get a decent coach

Re: AFLCA coaches votes rnd 19
You reckon? I think they are way further back now than they were two years ago. Very old list with 12 to 15 best 22 players to retire in the next year or two. Outside of Reid and Allen a really poor crop of young talent and have had 3 shocking drafts prior to last year. I honestly think they go next year winless and also potentially 2026.Scollop wrote: ↑Mon 22 Jul 2024 7:01pm Finally...Sincs gets noticed

Two Premierships in the last 20 years and countless finals campaigns tells you they won't take long to be right up there again.
They are a well run club and probably the richest club in the league when you factor in Optus Stadium exclusive membership, general membership and sponsors.
I'd love for them to be crap for 10 years so West Aussie junior talent chooses us but I doubt it.
Look at Hawthorn. They could be a contender again... way before we are...Hawks have been in the wilderness (out of finals) for only what?! ...5-6 years.

Their Run Home:
- Adelaide - Winnable
- Giants ??
- Carlton - ??
- Richmond - Winabble
- North Melbourne - Winnable
Win the Winnable and One of the ?? and they will play Finals.

Agree. In the thread for Top 4 I also tipped Hawthorn to sneak in. I saw who they're playing last 2 rounds

Re: AFLCA coaches votes rnd 19
Ross initially was going to award Brad Hill best on ground.
Lyon scratched out Hill for '5' votes after one of his assistant coaches told him Brad's stats. He'd already given Skunk the 4...so that's where he slotted in Sinclair for the 5

If you look at who Hawthorn have yet to play there is a story there
In terms of beating Collingwood, well we beat them when their List was far healthier - as was ours losing Henry and Wood to long term injuries in that game
Plus we should have beaten Hawthorn when we played them
The draw can be your friend - as it assisted us last season
You need to look at who has played who and where to conclude who the imposters are because there remains imposters currently in the 8
Then who outside the 8 to replace them?
Of recent Premiers, Collingwood, Geelong and Melbourne are gone and not to return in the foreseeable
The contenders are Sydney, Brisbane, GWS and WB all of which have a spread of talent capable of papering over the cracks on a good day

Best side I've seen beat us this year.
Missed the Doggies game.

Re: AFLCA coaches votes rnd 19
BUMP
Wood is like a barometer for us. When he performs and has a good day, we normally win. He's a very difficult match up for opposition coaches. He's very good in the air and he's very dangerous near goals.
Almost every Saintsational poster in the votes thread had Mason Wood in their votes.
Clearly, Wood was one of our best. Had 19 disposals, took 9 marks, 1 direct goal assist, kept getting scoring opportunities and he kicked 3.4 for the day... could have easily kicked 5 or 6 goals.
But...Mason Wood didn't get a vote from either coach in the AFLCA award. Baffling!!
NWM had 23 touches, 7 score involvements, 7 inside 50's and even got a clearance on his stat sheet. One of the coaches gave him a vote.
Josh Battle only had 16 touches and the coach gave him a vote. I suppose you'd think Battle must have done a terrific job as a defender, but Saints backline had a pretty easy day out in my opinion.

At the game , I didn't think he was our best
But after watching the replay and seeing things that one misses from my vantage point in the stadium you're right, he was clearly BOG !
Easily his best game for this year and probably better than anything last year.
