Re: Brad Hill Contract Extension
Should have been 2 years max. He's replaceable as a 33 year old in 2 years
We've seen the rapid downturn in form for Sebby and Skunk.
I would prefer 1 year ongoing contracts for guys over 30. If they're good enough they usually get rewarded with a further year

Fantastic. No doubt the length means the $$ aren't ridiculous.
Massive for our culture and if he doesn't even get on the park the final year he adds value (I expect he will though)

That's a good deal for a 31 year old, well done Brad.

He has been great for the club and is still going strong.
Given he is an endurance athlete he could comfortably keep going for three more years.
A good decision by the club.

Re: Brad Hill Contract Extension
Given his slow and steady improvement under Lyon, in 2027 he might actually become the player that we sold the farm for back in 2020!
Let us see how he matches up against Acres in the final round.
I guess Lyon won't expose him to that embarrassing comparison.

It’s funny how short some memories are
He was roundly criticised in his first two seasons
Now he’s heart and soul?
He’s a good outside runner
Lenny Hayes he ain’t

I haven't seen too many players improve from age 33 onwards. He'll be 34 in the last year of his contract.darylcowie wrote: ↑Thu 18 Jul 2024 1:40pm Given his slow and steady improvement under Lyon, in 2027 he might actually become the player that we sold the farm for back in 2020!

Let's hope his body holds up and that our list manager's crystal ball is working properly

Re: Brad Hill Contract Extension
Reality is we have no context.
Hill is still good enough to whore himself out and get a decent short term contract elsewhere.
I suspect we paid significantly less to give him security and see his leadership and culture influence as valuable.

Re: Brad Hill Contract Extension
If the criteria for a re-signing was not being roundly critiqued on this forum we'd let almost every player go.
Speak to anyone involved at the club about how important Hill is to the heart and soul you mention and you'll quickly realise that he is.
One of my favourite players at the club and when you look back at his body of work at the end of his career you might be surprised at how well his resume stacks up....

A resume that's heavily front loaded with his achievements at Hawthorn and Fremantle (up until now)

Re: Brad Hill Contract Extension
This. Bizarre to call him a heart and soul player. I like him too but 3 yrs is nuts really. Ross loves him that's all it tells you so he's taking care of him. Nothing to do with benefit of the club. Don't ever expect rtb to consider that.Scollop wrote: ↑Thu 18 Jul 2024 3:14pmNo doubtnostalgicsaint wrote: ↑Thu 18 Jul 2024 3:06pm One of my favourite players at the club and when you look back at his body of work at the end of his career you might be surprised at how well his resume stacks up....

Being a punkah wallah is an old and honourable job.
A job for strong mature males.
How else will Ross keep cool in the box without fan cooling.

Re: Brad Hill Contract Extension
We gave away 2 first round draft picks as well as Acres.
I am still to be convinced that he, or indeed almost any player, is worth that.
I do acknowledge that Brad has given good service since RTB took over.
i just hope that the contract extension for THREE years doesn't prove to be foolhardy.
