Gym work

Post: # 2070460Post seano1 »

Why do a lot of our guys look like they haven’t seen the inside of the gym ? When looking at some the other teams they look bulked than us … i know we have some young guys but we just look thin and get pushed around . No body shaming

Look at the difference between Riley Thilthorpe and Max King

Or even more comparable the difference between Max and Ben King

Even Marshall who is big has no muscle definition

It's obvious that the next KPF we look at needs to have Viking ancestry

Or...must be related to the GTrain

Feels pretty straightforward. I am sure they are all doing some strength work (feels like half of the saints socials videos show them in the gym), but for better or worse the last few years we have been more focused on being the fittest team in the comp, so doing more endurance than out and out strength.

We are not a bad running side as a work in progress, but as soon as the rain started pelting down in sheets I knew we were cooked.

Focus on running and endurance, mostly.

What a load of bulls***.

An effective weights program conducted by a sports scientist and skilled trainers, in an elite training environment to full time athletes and it “does nothing for some blokes”? 😂

Visual results vary on individuals, also noting specific programs per player, but our resident expert informs us it does nothing for some blokes.

Sorry master. Visually it does nothing.

We would have no idea the strength of Hunter Clark etc

You can tell players who hit the gym

You can tell players who run hard

You can tell players who diet well

2 examples
Jake Stringer does not
Darcy Wilson does

Just look at the evidence- their body shape

I remember at the time that this should not have been a free kick. What's Ray supposed to do? Selwood is on his knees FFS. Ray did everything right. got down low and protected his head.
The only reason that was high contact was because of the actions of Selwood.

Gym good (Selwood bad) but basic thing is draft large bodied players. Surely?

When RTB joined us...according to Steele, Ross told him he needed to be an elite runner or something.
Steele says he lost 10 kg in Ross' first preseason.
TEN KILOS

That's muscle.

I'll try to find the article.
Ross was all about endurance

Jack Steele looked a lot stronger in 2022

He looks thinner now than when he was drafted at age 18
