Delistings/Retirements
I think 2025 will see Ross Lyon finally make the necessary changes to our senior core.
Most years see fringe players delisted rather than senior players who have passed their use-by-date.
This year Jones, Crouch (injury), Ross, Hill, Hayes (injury), Cordy, Membrey and Campbell all under serious doubt to comtinue their careers.
Hill and Crouch may survive, but I think all of the rest are done.
Allison, Paton and Collard are also on thin ice.

Re: Delistings/Retirements
Membrey played well on Sunday, however he was in the 2s for a while and maybe only came in due to Caminiti being hurt.
He hasn't been himself this year and the club just may ask him to play all next year in the Zebs, as a mentor, and will come back due to injuries possibly.
Who knows

I think they will go with Caminiti as a key defender next year
Perhaps with Wilkie and Schoenmaker in support
Will want to get overs for Howard though

Does he have enough in his trick bag to try a different position. Say half back where he can get some easier ball.
Development continues to be an issue for the saints. We have a lot of young guys that should be able to get around him.

There will be a lot of changes
1. Battle
2. Ross
3. Allison
4. Membrey
5. Hayes
6. Jones
7. Paton
8.???
9.???
Maybe: McLennan, Hotton, Heath, Campbell?
I think from memory Crouch has triggered a deal for another season.
We have 3 draft picks + 1 for Battle.
Where do we get the other 5 players?
Next years picks?
Rookies?
DFA?
One year deals:
Webster, Byrnes, Crouch, Campbell?
Keep Howard, Turn Caminitti into the lock down defender on the big key forwards and free up Howard as an intercept player, he has the attributes.

To stay consistent with what we endure from some on here
Trade Wanganeen-Milera and Phillipou back to Adelaide using their Trade currency for Second Round picks
Trade King to GC to play with his brother for another Second Round pick
And delist everyone else wiping St Kilda FC from the competition
The compensation from the liquidation addressing the body's insolvent state with a Final Creditor payment of 10 cents in the $1-
You know it makes sense
And in that way we do not have to remunerate the dud Lyon

Re: Delistings/Retirements
I continued to be bemused by the way so many fans salivate at the prospect of the delisting of players such as Webster, Ross and Membrey who have been hardworking and loyal servants of the club.
But, so long as they are prepared to play on for less money is it really a good idea for any of them to be delisted? Webster and Membrey played key roles in our excellent win on Sunday. And, following quite an impressive game for the Zebs, I would expect that Ross will come in to replace Windhager for the rest of the season.
We've got plenty of other players to delist. Crouch and Hayes are struggling to continue their AFL careers. Allison and Hotton have shown little for the Zebras (as has Collard, but I suppose he has to get another year). Bonner, Cordy and the much-vaunted Dow are only so-so at best. I think Jones has had enough of a go, although he's not a complete dead loss. Campbell is probably close to retirement, although he too is still of some value. Along with Battle, there's nine players to choose from, which is surely enough.
Players tend to know when it's time to move on. If they are still playing ok, are up for another year, and are physically fit, then it's probably a good idea to keep them. The clubs that win premierships don't seem to be in the habit of showing the door to their oldest players. Eg, Collingwood has four regular first team players who are older than anybody on our list, and five more who are on the wrong side of 30.
If we desperately need the money we are paying Webster, Ross or Membrey, then fair enough. But that means we have to replace them with rookies or late draft picks or mediocre players who other clubs have tried and rejected.
It all seems like silly thinking to me. Some sort of fantasised hairy-chested nonsense about "showing that we don't tolerate mediocrity." I hope the club has more sense.

I like most of what BM posts on here, but I don't tend to pay much attention to what he has to say about the Dougs, who is undoubtedly imperfect, but I think makes a strong contribution to our very strong defensive unit. When I read the negative stuff about him on here, it takes me back to the days of Zac Dawson, who I also think was seriously underrated by fans.

Re: Delistings/Retirements
Think the only certainty to go is Allison the others you can mount a case for and against.
Howard no chance of being delisted. Would only consider if it was a dream offer.
Membrey if he plays well for the remainder of the season stays.
Crouch injury might see him retire.
Jones seems to be on the outer.
Ross may seek a longer contract elsewhere for security as he seems to be on the outer.
Hotton highly rated needs a clean run of games.
Cordy and Campbell very handy back up and I assume cheap and low maintenance.
Hayes I also think is rated internally and low key but high value.

How has Crouch triggered another deal? He’s played 1 game this season.
I’ve heard he will call retirement

Re: Delistings/Retirements
We can’t have all these players going anywhere….ross membrey to north ??? We would get nothing for them … we still need senior players around to help teach younger guys so why would you let these go to do the same at another AFL team ….as for a few younger ones who have been around or injury hampered guys …delisted them … for fringe guys who haven’t had a go at top level give them a go and see how they perform.we still need to fill Sandy with fringe guys

Sincs, Ro, Wilkie, Steele, Hill
And don’t the coach teach those things???

Re: Delistings/Retirements
Why would I hate Dougal Howard?!
Don’t know him, never met him.
Not a huge fan of him as a player, sags off, finger points, is not fit enough, average one out with a strong forward, poor decision maker
But he has some good traits, spoils well when he gets a jump, when he makes the right decision he is a reliable kick, surprisingly good speed.
He’s a C/B Grade key defender
