Easily his best game!!!

See, it doesn’t hurt to go back to the twos, find some confidence there and earn your way back in!

That’s how you develop kids. Should’ve happened r16 last season

Give them a taste, learn the areas they need to improve on, go back and develop and come back in a better player!

Needs to happen with Wilson now - swap him and Garcia

What was especially pleasing was his demonstration of class and composure in a few of the big moments. Kid also nearly iced the game for us but just didn’t get the distance.

Also nice to see him get some ball.

He's learnt to mark without cringing when an oppo is trying to spoil him too.
He seemed to pull his head like a turtle going into its shell.
His game seemed to be confident and composed

Don’t know what his kick to handball ratio was.
I’m glad to see today his first option wasn’t always to handball either blindly backward over his head or to a teammate in a pressure situation. It was great to see him now have the confidence to use his lethal boot to the advantage of the team. Best game he’s played to date, great to see - long may it continue.

Phillipou arrived today as a potential star of the competition - he was absolutely amazing today, what a turnaround from what we saw in his last few senior games at this level, looks a totally different player; it's amazing what confidence can do for you

Hopefully the Pou can carry this form on and finish the year really strongly - credit to the kid for not sulking when he was dropped but did the mature thing and tried to better himself and has come back the player we all hoped he could become!

Great game.
Proove it works. Development can be a 3 steps forward 1 back.

Now for Wilson to get a break.

When the young players start to fade ... and they all do... give them a chance to freshen uo. Use their skills to find the ball again. Take the pressure off to hopefully find more weapons in their arsenal

Has certainly been down compared to the good form he was showing earlier in the year. Nice to see him snag one though

Interesting to note also that Pou ran himself into the ground today covering 714 metres, which is huge......nobody across all games this weekend ran anywhere near this far, the kid was obviously hellbent on proving the doubters wrong.

Rapt for the kid. I really loved the way he was helping teammates up, patting them on the back and encouraging them to keep going. He also attacked his marks again.
Very mature performance - easily his best so far. Let’s hope he kicks on from here.

Highest ranked player on the ground if I’m not mistaken.

A very good effort and will give him much needed confidence.

21 kicks, 5 HB

I read somewhere (maybe Jake Batchelor, Zebs coach) saying he needed to kick a lot more.

He got 10 score involvements, 'game-high'
Also 716m gained or something insane

He really stood up and wasn't intimidated by the ladder leaders.

He's always been a good tackler and I think he did that well too

Pointed out numerous times last year, that he looked to handball first at every opportunity, especially at stoppage

That signals a lack of confidence in keeping up with the pace of the game - hot potato

Went back to VFL and worked on using his legs to get out of stoppage and kick.

This doesn’t mean he can’t handball - but he shouldn’t be running at 33% as he did prior to this game

Another issue was his inability to find the ball in general play, he was solely focused on stoppage possession (another reason for his low kick ratio) as a mid, he needed to learn how to spread and get ball on the outside and on turnover

He did that well yesterday

Phillipou played a very good game early on last season, around half forward, in which he made goal-kicking look easy.
We can't expect him to play at this level every week - but a great game, and it gave us a glimpse of his high ceiling.

Owens gave us a similar glimpse last year with a 27 possession goal-kicking performance.
We know what he can achieve, too.

Development via the VFL, whatever it takes.

We need to get this talent up to speed.

Kick to hb ratio was 1:3

He averages 4k and 8hb per game

First few weeks in the VFL he was still going at 1:2

Last game he got his kicking numbers up

He has also been getting midfield numbers 25-30 which is what’s required
