No Stocker or Ross

As Lyon said, each week they select a side to win the game

That is the criteria

I have no problem with Byrnes, who has pace and works up and down the ground also with 2 sided skills, nor with Paton given we lack a “small” defender to lock down on the most damaging small forwards across the competition and that Webster is past 30 years of age

In terms of Lyon “flooding” our defence, well firstly there is 6 x 6 x 6 plus every other side gets back in defence also restricting the size of the field where players congregate and then running

So St Kilda are not to do what every other side does?

Where does Curnow take marks for Carlton?

He gets back to support his defence - as Membrey did for St Kilda when in better form

In terms of influential players going forward and back, look at Acres now at Carlton

And his like for like at St Kilda being Wood, who kicks more goals than Acres

Can't wait for 6.00pm Sunday, by then it should all be over for another week.

Except for the media dross.

Season 2024 is where RTB is showing the footy world his grasp of the modern game.

and if Nasiah nailed the chances he has had to goal that would have/will have a big influence on scoring. Seems a paradox his field kicking is first rate but when kicking at goal it often looks like Clint Jones in action.

We are shielding Garcia, Hastie, Keeler and the Moose from the trauma of playing the Swans

They're coming off a loss and they're the top team - flag favourites.

Wouldn't be impossible... but I'm not putting any of my dough on us

It's frustrating to see Byrnes back: he tries extremely hard, but just isn't AFL quality IMO. i'd have rather seen Paton selected in the starting 18 ahead of Byrnes and have Stocker or Garcia come onto the bench.

Sharman made the best of his brief appearance last week, and has earned his spot. I still don't believe he's the answer to any of our longer-term questions, but Lyon and the club seem to think he's got something

Posters are being unfair to Paton, who has been playing quite well in the VFL. He's versatile, and might well end up being the sub.

Wilson was lucky to keep his spot. It's good to see Phillipou back. Let's hope he has a breakthrough game.

Byrnes will finish his career a 100+ game AFL player.

He won't ever be a top 10 player on the list but he is a worth 20-30 player.

Players like him need time at AFL level as much as the superstars so when injuries mean he is 'next man up' he should play.

Byrnes is still developing and will be a solid player for us. I was wondering why we offloaded Nick Hind, as he would have a been a useful player for us, no star but has the leg speed we lack on the outside.

You are advocating child abuse and tanking?

What about random selection of players to positions, that would be a change as well.

Paton and Byrnes fit the game plan
They can run all day and defend all day

I'm listening to North vs Gold Coast on abc radio. Sounds like a good match to watch.

Minutes away from the half time siren.

North leading 8-3 to GC 7-2 (courtesy of a Bing major just now)

We kicked 8 goals in total last week

As the Coach informed, we select a side to win every week

IF we could have achieved a 50/50 split on the games we have lost by less than a goal we would be right in the discussion for finals participation

That is how fine the margins - offering again that some sides are favoured by the AFL

There are positive signs with this side

But some on here fail to acknowledge this

I refer to the opinions on Byrnes on this site and where I have called those opinions out for the reasons I have

My opinion of Byrnes remains - as it does with Marshall playing forward

At the outset, the Coach referred to pace

And pace was the key today

And, do those offering opinion on here actually attend a game - or are they influenced by a pile on by others who do not attend and a media who continually rubbish (and no doubt get their headlines from sites such as this so the uneducated telling their fellow uneducated what they do not know)

You're right about some of the rubbish being posted on here

Is Jack Steele vital or do you see him being replaced?

I recall you implying he was going to be surplus a few weeks back. I think you implied Windhager would overtake both Steele and Seb Ross
