B.M wrote: Tue 02 Jul 2024 9:18pm The fact is Firey, we are in a bad spot, not rebuilding and near the bottom. We have to go in that direction now, no doubt!

Lyon was not brought in to rebuild, he was brought in to lift standards, enhance strategy and maximise the performance of this list. That won’t be the messaging now, to avoid looking stupid, but it was in the initial press conference.

We are in a bad place right now
The place we are in will be defined by how Hastie, Garcia, Wilson, Collard, Shoenmaker progress, plus Heath and Keeler and Pou.
More lies ….just when BM started to turn….
Lyon wasn’t brought in to be the “icing on the cake”
What absolute garbage
Go back to the original press conference - Bassatt himself said we may need to go back to go forward
The club KNEW the list wasn’t good enough
Forget soft draw dead cat bounce last year (we now see Bombers enjoying that…who are no good btw)
We are MILES off it that’s why Caro said last night the Board know where the list is at
No more Ratten false dawns or top ups from Lethlean ….we need quality
Lyon Dalrymple SoS and co know it
We’ll be fine

Oh evidence??? Bassatt quote from recent Robbo interview:

AB: We were pretty clear when we appointed Ross that we were a long way off it as a football club, and that we weren’t on track to be competitive at the top end of the ladder.

Stop making up BS BM….might be time for name change ??

We are 15th

Only Nasiah has shown development.

Owens, Windhager, Phillipou have regressed.

The kids look ok for first year players, but have a long way to go. Our game plan is a mess, midfield is poor, forward line is dysfunctional backline is very good.

I’m not in a dark world, but I’m also not in fantasy land. I am a realist. I don’t believe in a mythical god like coach, I don’t rate our list.

Being a Saints supporter is going to create a bit of negativity
Considering there not much to be positive about

Football wise.
I don’t see these players have being regressed. I see them as not have come on as quick as we would like.
I rate our list .. as other posters appointed out we have lost by such small margins. We are in the mix come on mate lighten up.

I'd like to add that my original post was to point out that regardless of how talented a team is fans just want to see relentless effort. A handful put in for 4 quarters and the rest come and go. I didn't mention names or coaches. The minimum requirement for the rest of the season should be to put in for the whole game, that's their job and what they're paid for. Just play for the jumper and care for each other then winning will come.

If footy at the elite level was about effort, we all could get a gig

It’s about talent and discipline

Effort is a non negotiable- at any level, I can’t imagine a professional footballer not giving effort.

Everyone has regressed yet last year played finals??
We’re just all of a sudden decided to be shyte and it’s all Lyons fault
The dumb brigade are back ..
I question if these twits even follow the club sometimes…

Yes, we played finals last year

Hence
This year, sitting 15th a lot of players have regressed

Can you explain why?

You are the captain of the dumb brigade, which is made up of people with no original thoughts!

“Duh, Ross is a great coach and every thing he does is brilliant” - that’s about all you’ve got

Again, we're 15th, and have gone backwards in both offence and defense from last year. If you can't criticise some aspects of a club in that position then all clubs will forever be above all criticism!

It's ok to say we're not doing well and things need to improve, no boogeyman is going to jump out from behind the bushes and take your membership card off you...

We're 15th!!!
The competition is as even as I can remember

Last year was similar to this year in that after Rd 16 ... 15 sides had % above 92

We have played 15 games and have lost 6 games under 10pts and won 2 by less than 10pts ..... another 4 games have had a margin of 20pts to 10pts ... 2 wins & 2 losses
there

Essendon sit 4th with % under 100% .... Adelaide sit 14th with a % over 100%
If we could get just get four kicks back -- goals for posters, umpiring shockers in front of goal -- one in each of our one-kick losses, we'd now be sitting at 6th on the ladder, just behind Geelong and Collingwood on %, who we almost beat / did beat. We'd be looking at this very differently

It's been a disappointing, low-scoring and un-winning season, but we're nothing like a real rock-bottom outfit.
