You reap what you sow
We’re ultimately to blame for how depressingly ordinary this club has become.
The years of tolerating sheer mediocrity - Richo, Finnis and Lethlean, re-signing Ratten and then doubling-down by bringing in Ross Lyon. The fans tolerate it and laud it, because at least these administrators are apparently nice people.
We’re a foundation club, but have somehow become Port Adelaide’s b*tch and as fans, we keep going back for more.

Yeah yeah, stand by your ideology of supporting mediocrity without question.
Watch Hinkley in tears after that win. If anyone was going to save his career, it was us.
Relish in irrelevance if that makes you feel like a “true supporter.”

Re: You reap what you sow
Truth hurts Teflon.
Are Port such a good team that it’s realistic that we haven’t beaten them at our dungheap since 2010 and in Adelaide since 2011 (unless the count the fake COVID season).
Why is it that their players, despite no Dixon or Pepper to name a few, can rally behind a club and coach and take the field as the visiting team but still have a “defeat is not an option” attitude and pull off a victory that’s apparently so brave, the coach starts crying and we just say, “oh well, don’t worry, next time, we’ll finally figure out how to beat this mob.”

Surely you know that every team have a "defeat is not an option" attitude before a game SS, and I haven't heard anyone suggest that Ross Lyon does not have the full support of his players.SydneySainter wrote: ↑Mon 01 Jul 2024 12:52pmTruth hurts Teflon.

Yesterday's game was between two sides that have been horribly out of form, and for the entire 120 minutes they both played that way.
There was nothing "brave" about Port's win, they were just bloody lucky that Jack Steele failed to make the distance with two set shots from 50 m out, and Jack Higgins' damned awful brain fade to miss the easiest of shots from 30 m out that 9 times out of 10 he'd nail.
You are quite wrong to state that St Kilda supporters accept mediocrity, that's simply not true.
It's beyond question that our team has had a bad season and neither myself nor my family and friends that barrack for the Saints are at all happy with this situation. Despite this we remain totally supportive of the off-field changes since 2022 and believe consistent success is likely to eventuate in the next three years.
The thing that distinguishes St Kilda supporters above those of all other teams is their inexorable commitment to the club through thick and thin, and unlike you don't start shooting off the mouth when they lose.
It's not easy being a Saints supporter SS, but if you bag the players and coaches when the team is down, like you have done repeatedly this year, you're best off leaving this forum to the true believers and find yourself another team!

The trigger for this hyperbole is a two point loss to a side that is perennial finalist has 3 AA mids (our biggest weakness point) and our marquee forward had a game so bad it's still hard to believe.SydneySainter wrote: ↑Sun 30 Jun 2024 4:58pm We’re ultimately to blame for how depressingly ordinary this club has become.

Didn’t the unbeatable Sydney lose last weekend?
And where are GWS, who were mooted to be a force this season, languishing noting their result last weekend
Mind you, Sydney were one of the Clubs to lose by less than a kick over the weekend
But, no doubt, Sydney and GWS will be called to question, reaping what they sow

Re: You reap what you sow
I’m critical of the club because I don’t believe that the playing group has the drive to win as you say every other club. A culture of prioritising AFL compliance over winning was established and it’s had a prolonged effect on the playing group, because winning games of football just hasn’t been demanded by the top.Sanctorum wrote: ↑Mon 01 Jul 2024 2:45pmSurely you know that every team have a "defeat is not an option" attitude before a game SS, and I haven't heard anyone suggest that Ross Lyon does not have the full support of his players.SydneySainter wrote: ↑Mon 01 Jul 2024 12:52pmTruth hurts Teflon.

Some players have that fire in the belly, which is why they want to leave (Battle & Marshall).
As supporters, we sat back and canonised the Finnis regime for being decent people and relocating us back to Moorabbin, all the while the Richo, Ratten, Trout and Lethlean appointments permanently dinted our ability to evolve past the GCS and GWS induction.
By the time Ross got here, the damage was done.
That’s why I say, as supporters, we’ve allowed the club to become cuddle culture.

Re: You reap what you sow
I am willing to bet we finish in contention next season. Fine tuning our defence getting games into Pou in the number one mid role weeding out elder players at the expense of wins.
Reckon we’ve seen this before and it works.

Re: You reap what you sow
Where do you think we rank in terms of relevance?
I’d argue stone motherless last
Sydney - please do not compare, on or off field
Carlton - are back in a big way
Collingwood - Big club recent flag
Essendon- are back - smart recruitment
Fremantle- have a good niche 2nd team in state - playing well
Geelong- decade of success, own city, own stadium
Hawthorn- desirable club on the improve - gone past us
Melbourne- traditional club, played finals 5 of the last 6 years and recent premiers
West Coast - richest club in the AFL - past rock bottom - past the start of a full rebuild
Adelaide- the WCE of SA - Number 1 team in a state
Port - Traditional club, niche but rabid supporter base. Unbelievable midfield
Kangaroos - 10 first round draft picks!!! Will get another this season and next! Coming with a bullet
Gold Coast - like Port, unreal midfield which makes them good to watch, high profile and successful coach and good game plan - will play finals this season
GWS - talented list - when playing well, great to watch
Brisbane - quality team that will contend for the next 3 year
Richmond - off the back of a successful era. About to hit full rebuild. 100k members!
Western Bulldogs - small club - ridiculous list, best player in the comp!
StK - Bayside strong supporter base, niche, not a big club but reasonable support. ok training facility. Always dogged by culture of lack of success. Made loads of bad decisions that have impacted the ability to be successful.
Horrible game style. Only a couple of very good players.

Re: You reap what you sow
Choco Williams is insane! Completely nuts!
Remember he was just sacked from Port at the time. His premiership was 8 years beforehand.
In saying that, I would’ve been very tempted to go for Choco as Head of Development and Senior Assistant
Beveridge as Senior coach
AR as head of football
