Training today

Post: # 2067195Post B.M »

Boys trained pretty well

Rehab
Dow - not training
Crouch - bike
Hayes - bike
Dougal- laps
Webster injured during training - don’t think it was major

One drill was ones vs twos
Higgins, Windhager, Ross, Nas, Hill, Steele, Owens, Clark, King, Butler, Marshall, Wilson, Henry, Battle, Schoenmaker, Membrey, Wood, Sinclair, Bonner, Wilkie, Caminiti

Jones, Collard, Byrnes, Stocker, Keeler, Cordy, Hastie, Phillipou, Allison, Paton, Garcia, Campbell, Hotton, Hall, McLennan, Heath, Sharman, O Connell

Caminiti trained as a defender

Thanks for the report BM 2 questions
Was there anyone in particular that Caminiti was playing on as a defender?
Does Pou look like he’ll be back in the seniors soon? Thanks

How did King go? Did he manage to win any ball?

Caminiti trained as a defender
Good news. I hope we play him as key defender in the seniors for at least as long as it takes Howard to get back.

Cordy is not the future.

Even if Caminiti does not ultimately play asa key back, it will be good for his career as a forward.

Plus makes him more versatile as an option who can be switched to the backline from time to time.

King trained well

Hall did a few nice things is a pretty vanilla player though - no different to Hotton - perhaps a bit better?!

Caminiti trial down back probably to see whether we need to throw big bucks to Battle. Looked ok against Lions. Hawk fans would be nervous 2025 watching Frost and Battle dispose by foot.

That's a bit silly.
Having Hammer play defence during match sim in training, and 2-4 proper games against decent oppo- Power, then Sydney 😳😲
Then maybe Crows, then possibly Meth Coast (Jake Waterman/Darling/O Allen?)
this is a very small sample size on which to base a decision to let go of Battle, who has played lots of games down back.

It's worth trying Hammer down back because he's not doing much as a forward in 2024.

We won’t make any decision to get rid of Battle

On the contrary

He will get rid of us!

He has a sizeable offer in front of him, as he’s a required player

The fact he hasn’t signed it by the bye means he is 99% gonski - to the Hawks!

Has he ever done well as a key forward?

He averaged 1 goal per game last season
Same this season

Yep. He's too thick to play key position forward. Let him play down back where he can give it off to Sinclair and Wanganeen-Milera.

Hammer was down back in match sim at training today, so was Allison.

I expect Allison to be up in the grandstand with me at Saints training in 2025. :)
