Saynta didn't provide a link or the votes. This was a community service. And maybe I can preempt those tedious argument about who that idiot Fagan voted for.

Annoys me that our coaches don't do what other coaches do. That is...favour your own players no matter the result.

Win or lose, Sinclair played an outstanding game

Sincs - 32 disposals at 78% DE. Plus 4 clearances
Dorko - 30 disposals at 76% DE. Zero clearances

Dorks had 9 score involvements and 1 GA
Sincs had 7 score involvements and 1 GA

Dorks 3 inside 50s
Sincs 3 inside 50s

Dorks 8 rebound 50's
Sincs had 10

Sincs had 2 clangers
Dorko had 4.

I thought it was obvious...Sinclair should have been in the votes.

My bias tells me they're making errors

Round 1. Geelong won by 8 pts. It was a match that we were in the game right up until the final siren.

6 Geelong players earned votes.
Only 1 Saint got votes - Liam Henry.

10 Patrick Dangerfield (GEEL)
7 Jeremy Cameron (GEEL)
6 Max Holmes (GEEL)
3 Mark Blicavs (GEEL)
2 Liam Henry (STK)
1 Tom Atkins (GEEL)
1 Oliver Dempsey (GEEL)

Danger. 25 disposals, 12 contested. 8 clearances, 9 score involvements and he scored a crucial clutch goal in the dying minutes.

Danger was clearly bog but compare ...Jack Steele had 25 touches as well at 80% DE. He had 14 kicks and 11 hb. 12 contested. 7 score involvements and 9 clearances (1 more than Danger)

Cameron. 2 Goals. 9 score involvements. 21 touches. 8 contested ( Max King also scored 2 goals and had 17 touches, 7 contested and had 10 score involvements- 1 more than Cameron)

Max Holmes. 23 disposals. Only 5 contested

Jack Steele was second best on ground that day imo. The guys on Saintsational also voted for Marshall as having a huge impact. Rowan could have put us in front early in the last quarter. We were only down by 1 point.

Compare Atkins, Holmes and Blicavs stats with Steele and Marshall. I'm usually a critic of Roma for his clearances and disposals not having impact. That night he had a huge 11 score involvements. 5 inside 50s and 5 clearances. Enough said.

Dempsey. 3 goals. Highest goal scorer in the game for Geelong. ( Tim Membrey also got 3 goals for the Saints).

Ross Lyon (or who ever gave votes) totally ignored Marshall and Steele's efforts as far as AFLCA votes are concerned. Again in this game on the weekend, Sinclair was totally ignored.

Coaches or their reps would vote for the players who they thought most influenced the game and result.

Doubt whether the stats sheet would get more than a cursory glance. Basically irrelevant, also can be very misleading.

Why should losing coaches give votes to their own players when they thought others were more effective? Out of loyalty? That's a flawed system. I reckon it would be natural for a losing coach to give more votes to opposition players.

For example, Sinclair got possessions and was very good, but imo Zorko was much more influential on the result, especially early when Bris set up their win.

There's another dozen games for you to confirm your bias.

I have noticed this happening for more than just this season.

Our opposition seem to score much heavier on average in the coaches votes.

So often we have a narrow loss and our opposition seems to poll all or nearly all the votes

it would be interesting to see the stats on this over the past 2 or 3 years.

Well our coach/coaches must accept much of the blame for that state of affairs.
