It’s a huge game
We have a poor record interstate- especially in Tasmania
We win this - we are back in the ball game with a huge game against Freo at Marvel to follow to get 5-5

A round 24, North v Hawks might be rather academic.

There’s big games - and those you must win
Generally against opponents you SHOULD beat or are around the same level
Games vs Syd, GWS, Melbourne, Port (there) Bris (there) happy to just play well and hopefully win
Lose to Hawthorn - season over imo

To be able to adapt to Tassie weather, I suggest
1. Boys go for swims daily at Melbourne beaches
2. Walk to training from the carpark without a jumper or a hoodie
3. Wear shorts at home all week and don't put the heater on
The other hazard when they go on interstate trips is the all you can eat buffet
When you arrive at Launceston don't go for seconds at dinner and stay away from the pancakes and maple syrup for breakfast

Like it or not, if we want to play finals , then this is a must win game.
We have a poor record interstate especially in Tassie.
Hawks have a good record in Tassie - and beat us on our home deck Marvel last time we played, They will be chock full of confidence after a big win and knowing they beat us last year.
This game will be tough - but a loss here will tell us that we are brittle and still 3 years away from being a serious footy club.

Actually, our record in Tassie is half decent. We have won 50% of our games in Launceston. We won our last game in Hobart by ten goals a couple of years ago.Zed wrote: ↑Mon 06 May 2024 10:18pm Like it or not, if we want to play finals , then this is a must win game.

We beat the Hawks last time at Docklands pretty easily after a 9 goal first quarter.

Except if it's at the Mowbray Hotel! Great counter meals in the bistro there!Scollop wrote: ↑Mon 06 May 2024 9:50pm To be able to adapt to Tassie weather, I suggest

I liked there win against the dogs , it was hard fought.
Whilst confidence building , I'm hoping they'll be a bit flat against us and we'll take full advantage

In a way they will be, we are both very young sides in hard rebuilds so it will be a battle of the kids.
Not sure what season over means though?
How far is it we think we can go this season?

We have an 8-9 record in Tasmania.
6-6 at York Park in Launceston.
2-2 vs Hawthorn in Launceston.
It is meant to be 19° and sunny in Launceston on Saturday.

Saints won't go anywhere if they can't beat Hawthorn.
Bottom 6 team.
It shouldn't be a major concern for a team vying for the premiership. Eg StKilda circa 2010 would have a query on their ability to win thus game?
Therefore that is where the Saints are at. A long way off the pace at the moment.

Don't know were you think the club is currently at, but for me, 'we are still in a rebuild, blooding our young draftees and repatriating multiple players after injuries etc.repta wrote: ↑Tue 07 May 2024 9:12am Saints won't go anywhere if they can't beat Hawthorn.

Nevertheless, it would be very disappointing to lose in Tassy and it'd make it harder for any chance for at least one finals match this season, but no more than that.

Surely Sicily misses with a dislocated shoulder. Massive out for them if so.

The club is saying he is a big chance to play which I find hard to believe.

the ultimate test will be surviving this place if we lose

I’m blaming Tasmania for not having their roofed stadium ready in time for this match.

9/9 - we beat Fitzroy at North Hobart Oval in a match in Hobart in 1991.
