The Kangaroos reserves side looks like a joke to me. The fact that we aren't 50 points ahead at half-time is also a joke, but it's not the only joke.samuraisaint wrote: ↑Sun 05 May 2024 4:23pm It's not the Saints, it's Sandringham and it's a joke.
Can we please, please get our own reserves side anytime soon.

Yes, Sharman good in defence. Paton perhaps even better.
Our midfield has dropped away. Dow has faded badly: will need more weeks at VFL level before he should seriously be considered for our first team. If anyone is going to be elevated ont today's form so far, it would be Jones, Paton or possibly Collard.

Re: VFL vs North
Surprise Sandi bombing it long into F50 and wasting dominant period. North out marked them on most occasions, the Sandi forwards are all one out none of them work to block for a team mate.
Its something that we are really poor at at AFL in our F50, so shouldn't expect any difference here.
Put a line through Allison he will be gone at seasons end. Clark should also be traded out aswell IMO, too injury prone and not prepared to work hard enough to build the body required.

VFL ladder doesn't matter to a side that purely exists to develop players to AFL level.

Thrilling finish, Sandy win by 3 points at 36 minutes in last quarter.

Re: Match Thread: Saints vs Kangas
Dow had a good last quarter in the clinches, racked up quite a few important clearances. Agree that he isn't banging down the door for selection.
Curious if anyone who watches the games thinks Arie is close? Personally I feel like he has a lot to work on defensively, seems almost allergic to tackling or pressure of any kind, and his stats belie his actual performance a bit I reckon. Note this is a not a knock on him long term, just a reflection on where he's currently at amid a bunch of people I've seen crying for him to be in the main squad.

Re: Match Thread: Saints vs Kangas
How bad is Clark's knee?
Could be the end of his career and sadly reflects our draft recruiting over the years. Our 2 top 10 draft picks from that year no longer at the club, both with potential and both cruelled by bad luck and injury.

I think you'll find that most of those who are crying for him to be brought into the AFL team are followers of the religion that believes that every young player who isn't playing in the AFL team must be better than any senior player who is. Ask them if they think Seb Ross should still be in the seniors: that's a good indicator.shrodes wrote: ↑Sun 05 May 2024 6:02pm Curious if anyone who watches the games thinks Arie is close? Schoenmaker has the ability to kick the ball a long way, with reasonable accuracy. I've watched him playing for the Zebs a few times now, and I don't reckon he's ready for AFL just yet. Very promising player though: could be a regular as early as next season.
O'Connell looks a prospect too, IMO. Dow didn't set the world on fire today and, while Collard clearly has talent, I'm not convinced about him either: I'm a bit inclined towards the view that AFL players should have AFL bodies.
