Selection over the next couple weeks
Will be interesting to see how this plays out, if we manage to fluke it and not get any more serious injuries.
Potentially available over the next month :
King
Wood
Clark
Dow
Webster
Paton
Hayes
Of the above list King and Wood are the only automatic selections in the 1's
Clark and Dow will push hard.
Automatics to me : Wilkie, NAS, Battle, Sinclair, Hill, Steele, Marshall, Owens, Higgins ( when not suspended), Membrey ( yes many haters out there but sacrifice work done is significant), Stocker, Windy, Ross
First year players - Wilson, Garcia going very well but likely to tire at some point,
Pressure then rises on specifically:
Sharman
Cama
Bonner
Phillipou
Brynes
Working on Henry and Crouch being a few weeks beyond this and Butler a little more again.

Re: Selection over the next couple weeks
Webster will be a walk up start.
We can't have too ball chasers in our back line, which is why small forwards have got hold of us all year.
Stocker and Webster to do the lock down roles, Sinclair to do what he does best or move permanently to the midfield and NWM needs to get up on a wing where he can burn his opponent off and run both ways.
Byrnes, Ross and Sharman will make way for Wood, Dow and Clark when they are ready.
Bonner, Byrne, Sharman and Ross all become back up players.
Howard out for Hayes, although I'm not sold on Hayes but he's probably still a better option than Howard.
I'd like to see Hastie given every opportunity until Henry is ready to play.

Against North
I have
King replaces Anthony Caminiti
Tom Campbell replaces injured Rowan Marshall
Jack Hayes replaces Cooper Sharman
Paddy Dow replaces suspended Jack Higgins
Arie Schoenmaker replaces Mattaes Phillipou who becomes medical sub replacing Angus Hastie
But I doubt the selectors will drop Phillipou who has just signed on for another 2 years.

Re: Selection over the next couple weeks
King, Hayes, Schoenmaker, and Webster are automatic inclusions.
If Marshall is fit, he plays forward with Campbell coming in.
Marshall should not attend a centre bounce as a ruckman, but can ruck in the forward half.
Hayes to go to the ruck to give Campbell the rest.
King, Hayes, and Marshall make up the three tall forwards with Owens as a fourth tall/crumbing option.
Dow also must play.
We needed to make a statement last week and we didn't. We need to make it this week.
The current 23 aren't cutting it and we can't afford to give North any mercy.
Membrey and Caminiti have to be dropped...Neither have performed in weeks.
Sharman probably goes, too.
No need to have both Cordy and Howard play. Keep which ever is the best match up for Larkey...Wilkie can take Zurhar.
Assuming Higgins is out.
In: King, Hayes, Campbell, Dow, Schoenmaker, Webster
Out: Caminiti, Membrey, Charman, Higgins (susp), Howard/Cordy, Hastie/Garcia
King, Hayes, and Marshall are the three tall forwards...Owens, Phillipou, and Wilson make up the other forwards...rotating between high half forwards and deep crumbers.

Re: Selection over the next couple weeks
History tells us we don't make more than the required changes +1 in any given week. Higgins for King is a likely option. But I don't like it - we are already too top-heavy both forward and back.
If I were on the selection panel.
In: Paton or Webster (whoever is fitter), Collard, King
Out: Higgins, Cordy, Sharman
And Marshall for Campbell if it is required.
The forwardline will be a lot more potent with Caminiti/King playing like Hawkins/Cameron (the wish.com version for now).
Collard has every chance of kicking the two or three Higgins usually kicks.
Garcia and Stocker both in the mid rotation, moving forward and back respectively.
Schoenmaker knocking on the door hard but I can't find a spot yet. Will need to displace Bonner.

King, Jones, Hayes, Paton, Campbell, Dow, Hastie, Collard, Webster, Arie all possibles, but Lyon doesn't take risks which is why his teams don't win premierships. Don't expect many changes.

Re: Selection over the next couple weeks
Does Higgins going out create space for a Sharman to become more of a focal point?
Higgins is a small forward but he is a leading forward who commands the ball and space.
My updated side for this week.
Cordy Wilkie Howard
Wang Battle Stocker
Campbell Steele Sincs Windy
Byrnes Hill
Wilson Hayes Membrey
Owens King Collard
Garcia (mid/forward rotation)
Pou (forward/mid rotation)
Bonner (back rotatation)
Ross (mid rotation)
Sub: Sharman (versatile, can give us more marking ability if a small is subbed off, can give us more run if a tall is subbed off)
In: Campbell, King, Collard, Hayes
Out: Marshall, Cammaniti, Higgins, Hastie
Webster (1 week in twos)
Dow (another week)
Hastie (unlucky and could easily be sitting in Ross spot on the bench if preferred)

Re: Selection over the next couple weeks
I hope we can at least push North to a draw this weekend, regardless of the makeup of the team.
Season 2024 is where RTB is showing the footy world his grasp of the modern game.
