Yep, a landmark game to be proud of. De Goey’s certainly no slouch.

Re: Seb Ross
I am confused - are you saying that Seb Ross is in the top 5% of ALL AFL players to have ever played the game?

Re: Seb Ross
He's saying he's achieved 200 games and most AFL players (95% of them) don't reach that milestone
He's not saying Seb is better than Hudson or Coleman

Re: Seb Ross
That's about 0.06% of players. There's still plenty of room for Seb Ross.Sainter_Dad wrote: ↑Fri 22 Mar 2024 10:09amI am confused - are you saying that Seb Ross is in the top 5% of ALL AFL players to have ever played the game?

Re: Seb Ross
Nah, love his efforts but he's not near the top 5% best. But he has accomplished what 95% of players never do...he's hit 200 games! Well done.Sainter_Dad wrote: ↑Fri 22 Mar 2024 10:09amI am confused - are you saying that Seb Ross is in the top 5% of ALL AFL players to have ever played the game?

Re: Seb Ross
200 is a serious achievement. Well done Seb. He has been a beacon in a disastrous era dominated by Richo and Trouts incompetence in there chosen roles. He has senn a number of coaches come and go and played some wonderful games and a variety of roles.
Seriously good clubman and AFL star.
I've been harsh on his gushing admirers but have always had a soft spot for his effort, personal conduct, leadership and professionalism. A great example of what can be achieved when you are fully committed to a greater cause.

Re: Seb Ross
What a nightmare environment he has had to play in. Makes his achievements all the greater.
I hope he writes a book when he finally retires to lift the lid and partway explain the farce perpetrated for over a decade to 2023.

Re: Seb Ross
We finished 9th in 2016. We beat some pretty good teams including the eventual premiers that year. Cho went out and recruited senior players from other clubs because he sold the board a furphy that we were ready to play finals.
The coach and the president told us they had the list to be contenders. There was no reason why we couldn't finish top 4. 2017 would turn out to be the last season for both Rooy and Joey.
In 2017 we were flying in round 16 when we smashed one of the top 4 teams (Richmond...who ended up in the GF). We beat other finalists including the runner up to the eventual premiers and we beat West Coast late in the season as well. West Coast made semis in 2017 and went on to win the flag in 2018
So...after a very good 2016 and a lot of our players having played under Cho for 4 years, we were expecting (after that performance against Richmond in Round 16) that the team was ready to challenge.
In round 17 (2017) we were comprehensively thrashed by Essendon and in round 18 smashed again by Sydney. We lost a fair bit of percentage in those losses, but still had a chance to make finals. Really disappointing efforts for a team that looked so good in round 16.
Round 19 was a 2 point narrow loss to Port who were also finalists in 2017. Round 20 we won against West Coast ( who made semi finals) and then round 21 was our chance. We were playing another potential finals hopeful in Melbourne FC.
We started poorly but got back into the game after half time. Unfortunately we kicked 4-7 to 1-3 in the third. Our wasteful kicking for goal cost us.
We lost to Melbourne in a game where we were favourites to win. Cho and his leaders and the senior guys he bought in from other clubs in 2017 failed us.

Re: Seb Ross
Great effort by Seb on DeGoey. I think we've found his role going forward. The run with midfielder. It also releases Windy from that role, whose effort against the filth is cause for excitement.
Windy will be a gun, not as stopper (thank goodness) but as a midfield accumulator. Another piece of the puzzle is in place.

Re: Seb Ross
I acknowledge that, BM. I feel this will become his role permanently. Windy has shown on numerous occasions, starting in his first year, that he could go head-to-head with the opposition's leading midfielders and beat them.
With Seb, the permanent run-with role suits him and will guarantee his place in the senior team.

Seb's place in the senior team has never been in doubt no matter what his knockers on this site post.
