A little moment I liked from Bonner tonight
By a large a step down from his performance last week and I believe that that was him run down in the last, that led to Collingwood’s last ditch resurgence late in the game… not that they got too close.
Estimating that with about 7-8minutes to go, Wilson got onto the end of a pass at half back… kind of went to play on… went to play on, held the ball furiously searching for options.
He then made eye contact with Bonner, who was behind him and gave him the nod… Darcy then went back and just kicked it long of a contest.
I know this isn’t that big a deal and this type of stuff happens more than we pbly notice… but it’s a subtle gesture of leadership from a more senior player to an inexperienced one. And it’s the type of thing I reckon we might not have been too good at in recent times.
Bonner will have better games then tonight but that’s at least one nice little tick I’d like to throw out there for him

Nice pick up ... but that smother kick was a horrendous watch and he is very limited to the outside
Apart from that his kicking for the most part is glorious

Bonner has a bit of polish: as you would expect from someone who has played almost 100 games of AFL.
But, so far, I can also see why Port let him go. He’s less than terrific under pressure.
But he’s an ok fill-in while Webster and others are out. And he might improve under Boris’s excellent tuition.

He's got no physical side to his game. Will be much better once Webster comes back.

Allowed Bobby Hill to get goal side at stoppage near goals in last quarter. Cardinal sin of defender. Put zero pressure on Hill for easy goal. Then followed up with absolute howler allowing his kick to be smothered. Basically we/he let pies back into the game last quarter

No one’s arguing that he had a good game… I pointed most of the subsequent comments about his poor performance in OP.
This was just one minor positive that I saw and liked

He's part of RTB's masterplan, of getting more strong and fast runners, as well as elite kicks into the side.
Let's face it, we've never been good in the kicking department. That is Riley's one wood. Last night he was below his best, but I think he's essential to RTB's overall plan.
I'm prepared to wait on making an overall judgment on him. So far, I'm a fan.
