Are St Kilda ruthless enough to...........
trade out some more experience next year to grab a couple more early SRDP's?
My suggestions.....
Seb Ross - will be 31 on May 7th 2024. If we could get a pick in the 20's I would trade him.
Bradley Hill - will be 31 on July 9th 2024. If we could get a pick in the 20's I would trade him.
Go to the 2024 Draft with our FRDP, our SRDP plus 2 picks in the 20's.
Then the hard part is nailing all those picks. But imagine if we did?
Thoughts?

Unrealistic, as usual. Same old same old.
Brad Hill is playing a very important off field role for the club.

Holder of unacceptable views and other thought crimes.

Poor Seb may be done.
I can't imagine him finishing his career at Sandy

I reckon a contending club might. You gotta be in it to win it.

Oh well, it was just a thought. It would be interesting if we got any offers. We are now in a position that we could cover the loss of Seb and Hill and then at the same time we could add another 2 young guns through the draft.

Why worry about next year's trades now ....... we're going to win the whole damn thing next year anyway!!!

Re: Are St Kilda ruthless enough to...........
My shot at trade value in our 24+ age range. I don't think we would take any of these deals.
1st round
Sinclair
WIlkie
Steele
Marshall
2nd round
Battle (with another solid year might be worth a late first rounder)
Higgins
Clark (pending 2024 form improvement)
Howard
3rd round
Butler
Crouch
Dow
No Trade Value (possible trade with pick swaps)
Campbell
Ross
Webster
Hill
Wood
Membrey
Jones
Hayes
Cordy
Bonner
Paton

Salary cap relief and a sweetener for Essendon as thanks for the Gresham compo.
If we kept him on the list there's no way he would have played a senior game in '24.

I was just pointing out that some of our players are under appreciated by some fans but over rated when it comes to value when trading out

Disrespect for Seb does the dissers no favours. Seb is a stalwart and remains important. You don't change players that have achieved so much like you might dirty socks. Nothing surer, some of the current bright new things won't come close to being as good as Seb.

I dont think it's disrespectful to value Ross, at his age, as a second round pick.Yorkeys wrote: ↑Thu 07 Dec 2023 8:01pm Disrespect for Seb does the dissers no favours. I also believe a dignified retirement is on the cards. I hope so anyway.
If he regains full fitness, well we will have an outstanding sub to develop young mids behind.

Re: Are St Kilda ruthless enough to...........
I’m terms of ruthlessness… I think we’ve actually made made some decisions devoid of sentimentality.
Gresh had been a career Saint and a match winner at times… arguably wanted more than he was worth and we let him go… arguably encouraged him to go.
Dmac has gone from whipping boy to club favourite… set to be offered a life line and then cut when an unexpected draft prospect remained
Billings was let go with us paying half for the privilege of moving him on.
Howard was reportedly made available but pbly not a ton of interest at that price I’m guessing.
I would say all of that was kind of ruthless whilst also staying on the right side of sensible

The review of the football department, the reason we had Walsh do it, was because it was void of leadership.
Everyone was finding their way for the first time.
Thats when Ross was identified and signed.
Ruthless but sensible again.

Walsh couldn't hand around and Misson needed to be promoted and the CEO just went back to the books.
A division in leadership is sometimes less dysfunctional than lack of leadership.
But we had s*** leadership. In the footy department.
