Re: Darragh Joyce watch
Joyce would only have been depth with us as we have Howard, Wilkie and Battle who are all young and they are all clearly better options.
He is having another rack at the Lions and good luck to him.

Re: Darragh Joyce watch
I only saw 10 minutes of the game. I saw Darragh twice feature..a nice punch, and then some really good work on the boundary at high speed. Really impressed me.
You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

Diverging
Lions have Darragh, who is going ok. Also
I wager* Fagan would have loved Sharman instead of the pretender J. Daniher.

Re: Darragh Joyce watch
Imagine a forward line with Sharman-Daniher-Hipwood as the 3 talls.
Who would kick the goals, Charlie Cameron ?
Season 2024 is where RTB is showing the footy world his grasp of the modern game.

Re: Darragh Joyce watch
Joyce had just 8 disposals and scored a miserable 22 in AF in last night's game, but, just as he did quite a bit when he played for St Kilda, he gave away 5 free kicks, a couple of which resulted in goals. Andrews gave away just 1 free......
It says a lot about the quality of the Brisbane Lions list that Joyce is rated best 22 as Joyce is a very clumsy defender, which is why he was delisted by the Saints.

Re: Darragh Joyce watch
Absolutely no question Joyce is only getting a game because of Adams situations and there were no other like-for-like recruiting options and Adams was significant to how Brisbane play.Sanctorum wrote: ↑Fri 31 Mar 2023 12:54pm Joyce had just 8 disposals and scored a miserable 22 in AF in last night's game, but, just as he did quite a bit when he played for St Kilda, he gave away 5 free kicks, a couple of which resulted in goals. Darragh got monstered in nearly all of his 1v1 contests last night which resulted in Dogs goals.
The thing I hope the club never does again is project players, I still can't believe he got 8 years at the club.

Ha ha!!
Love the language!! lol
I only watched 10 mins
He looked useful and did a very nice couple of things…
But curious, I checked BF for about four minutes, to see what Lions said about the loss.
I only scanned the first three pages of several dozen
Loads of references to culprits who need dropping
No Joyce reference
Loads of comments about the Brisbane defence standing up well..
Ah

The defense did hold up well, Harris Andrews probably played the best game he's played in 2 years.shanegrambeau wrote: ↑Fri 31 Mar 2023 2:32pmHa ha!!

The forward line is where they lost it in a very low scoring game which was won in the midfield by the Dogs.
Watch the full game and come back to me though on Darragh and tell me if you think he's a like-for-like replacement of Adams who just before his injury was as important to the Lions as what May is to the Dees.
If Darragh wins his 1v1 contests and doesn't leak the goals he did then Lions probably win.

We could definitely use him. I dread to think what will happen if Howard and Cordy get injured....

Re: Darragh Joyce watch
Well, yeah, that was over the top, but more to the point Darragh Joyce only played 5 games for the Lions in 2023, so clearly the Lions came to the same conclusion about him as St Kilda.
