If his body is sound, you'd consider it for sure.
How old is he?

29
3-4 years left
Probably not the type of mid we need (but like Steele and Crouch)
But would add power to our midfield
Pick 21 and Billings

Re: Ollie Wines
Would entertain a direct swap with Billings with us taking on the full salary of Wines and partial salary of Billings.

Re: Ollie Wines
No way
The timing is premature for Wines type in terms of our premiership window.
He will be in steep decline as we are entering our window.
Need to go to the draft with our early picks.

Re: Ollie Wines
Direct swap removing Billings from the list and Wines into the list is a no brainer.
Financially, we can't lose, as it's widely reported , Billings won't play next year, is already in deep decline and is currently contracted to 2025. Just pay the money, we have heaps.
Wines is a much better footballer and contracted to 2026.

Re: Ollie Wines
Noticeably slow, now fumbles too often as a consequence.
Sure we would not consider it.
Port only keeping him as a mark of thanks for services rendered.

Re: Ollie Wines
Absolutely No!
Been a very good player, but the last thing we need is an aging slow inside mid.

No to Wines
I would have said no to Travis Boak as well....if Port hadn't committed to him for 1 more year
We need to find the next Wines and Boak. Keep using our 1st round picks for the best young talent

Re: Ollie Wines
No,
1/ We are meant to be building around our core of good younger players, so that the team gets better each year. Wines is too old for that. He is more a top of player to help you win now, which is not us.
2/ You would only therefore take an older player is he is cheap, and helps our younger players to learn, or is a cheap positional back up (ie Ruck in Campbell)
3/ Using Pick 21on Wines would be sabotaging our future.

Re: Ollie Wines
Isn’t our midfield the weakness?
Didn’t he win a Brownlow recently
Is he that old?
Is 3/4 years out of an A Grade mid better than what is expected of a pick 21
Some of our picks in that area
H.Goddard
D.McKenzie
B.Long

Re: Ollie Wines
How does our midfield improve?
Dow?
Jones?
Owens?
Windhager?
Clark?
Steele, Crouch, Ross - needs to be better than that!

Re: Ollie Wines
At least we don't have to add Gresh and Billings to the needs to be better than that list anymore.
Owens Windhager and Clark will all be better than last year. Dow will improve our stoppage rotations.
Neither Gresh and nor Billings, based on years of data, are likely to improve, or be at their best next year, and both took less money to leave. Their value has dropped.
Thats not our problem now.
We have space for a $600 - $800k mid to grow or be traded in.
If Jones comes good and he looked ok at the end of last year, we won't miss Gresh.
