Hard to compete with ... ....
Suns multiple academy picks
North Melbourne's ridiculous draft concessions
Bulldogs' ongoing father/son gifts
Meanwhile, we have scratch around like chickens in the dirt to grab ourselves some crumbs.

Yep, it's bulls***
If we hadn't luckily aced it with those academy picks, we would be nowhere.

Re: Hard to compete with ... ....
GC and Norf now playing charade with Norf swapping its concession picks for a first rounder.
Laura Kane worked at Norf
AFL has pumped how many millions into the Suns.
Conflicts of interests as far as the eye can see.
The whole thing is a disgusting sham.

Re: Hard to compete with ... ....
Have you heard me ask what's Lyons magic trick?...this is a great example of why.
Hardest job in elites sport is procuring a list that can contend at a poor club like ours.
In hindsight it's a shame we ended up as high as we did on the ladder.
The talent in this years draft drops way considerably after about pick 7 and 8, most clubs aren't expecting more than about 45 players to be picked this year.

Re: Hard to compete with ... ....
Another compromised draft that we have had to contend with. North got pick 3 for a bog average defender in a laughable decision by the AFL, and some draft picks for them to play with like gambling chips. Melbourne got an early second round pick for a guy who could barely get a game, and the club who picked him up didn't have to cough up anything.!..that club? Oh yeah. Sydney. Funny about that
Funny how this is all playing into the hands of Damien Hardwick and Alistair Clarkson. In two years they'll once again be hailed as master coaches, but only after being handed a bundle of goodies by the AFL, and the presstitutes will grovel at their feet, like the slobbering sycophants they are!

Re: Hard to compete with ... ....
So does GC have a different access to Academy picks than the rest of the competition?
Because I thought you couldn't match picks with points below 20 anymore....hence our anxiety that Windhager and Owens gor through.

The 1st of Rooey’s boys should be coming through in about 10yrs time, but no doubt the AFL will change the rules the year before and we won’t get access to any of them!!!

Rooys boys will be international players he lives in Texas and is not coming back any time soon.
So they might be playing different sports in the US as AFL is not that big its a shame as he is about the only one with boys.

Re: Hard to compete with ... ....
Give me a break you mob, the AFL is influenced by many things and it has been helpful to our club in the past when we really needed it and that's one of the reasons we are still in town.
It's a bit childish to carry on so much about mama giving too stuff to the other kids in the family. I for one don't want other clubs bragging in the schoolyard about how we were spoilt rotten and that's how we got our second flag. I'd much rather we win our next flag fairly and using strength through loyalty (fortius quo fidelius) and good management.
We are lining up our soldiers at the moment and many would only be crying like babies if we have showed our toys to the neighbours kids too soon.

i thought North's 2024 concession picks were to be reviewed next year, well that can't happen now as they have already been traded!

Re: Hard to compete with ... ....
I'm not concerned with North's multiple early draft picks, they'll probably use them all on midfielders and then top up with State League standard players for their Key Position Defenders and a Key Forward to assist Larkey.
Season 2024 is where RTB is showing the footy world his grasp of the modern game.
