Pick #10

Post: # 2031343Post D.B.Cooper »

According to a few press outlets the GCS are looking to trade #4 for picks offering more points to assist securing academy players.

The Bulldogs are reportedly interested in swapping #10 & #17 for #4.

#4 = 2034 points
#10 = 1395 points
#17 = 1025 points

GCS = +386 points

What if GCS think they need extra points?
Could we trade into #10 giving us #10 & #12?

We have currently:
#31 = 606 points
#50 = 273 points
= 879 points

To make it worth while for GCS you'd think they'd want to gain a 200 point advantage plus a guarantee not to nominate their academy players, so to achieve this we'd need to acquire a pick in the range of 24 - 27.

To get that pick we'd have to give up a player like Howard or perhaps Clark might warrant a pick in that range.

Would we give up Clark, #31, #50 to get #10?
The other option is securing a couple of 3rd round picks in the 40's + #31 + #50.

Hawthorn appear to be in the market for a KP defender.
Would they consider #12 + #31 + Howard for #3 & #48?
is the price too steep for a top #3 pick (going to be #4 when North get free agency).

And Clark was Pick what?

So who is to say an upcoming Pick 10 adds more than Clark?

Given Clark (and Coffield) have how many games of experience now (despite a chronicle of injuries)

Think Acres

We look to put our most capable side on the park, to use 2023 as a start point not a false dawn

So we immediately look to improve on 2023, again figuring in finals and going deeper than 2023

That is the responsibility of the Club

I think we are better off with more picks in the 20's and 30's. More chances for success, and builds that culture of a young team coming through together. I say back our recruitment and development team in.

Is Gags still working for us in some capacity? Would be disappointing if we didn't get a SANFL special this year.

If they were really invested in Youth why did they delist Adams,2 year first year injured, Peris had a good season in 2s got positive write up and even played more games the Allison, Mackenzie, Cofield, and same as Hayes. Bytel, was a bit disappointed with he has good hands and was unlucky not to get more games.
Connolly yes.
Mackenzie not games most of season injured should be gone Highmore was the turnover king jones hardly played and Billings did not play either so I guess Max heath is gone as well as he has been on the list for a number of years as with Campbell as well.

We need a selection in 18-30 for Henry from Freo.

I previously had flagged something like this using a second round pick comp if Gresh left which would add 200 points to GC. and get us higher up the first round.

I don't think we will be involved in such swaps and i get nervous with the history SOS has with pick swaps .
Don't forget there is also the ability to trade cap space now too

How does where he was drafted as an 18 year old in 2017 impact trading in 2023?
Paddy Dow was taken at 3 in the same draft.

Yep, original draft position means nothing.
In retrospect 2017 was a relatively weak draft and if revisited under current circumstances Clark would be lucky to be top 20 in that draft.

I’d prefer to keep Clark than lose him, the guy can play. I think he’d be very good player as a backman, however he is behind Sinclair and NWM as that creative half back role and behind Webster & Stocker as defensive backs.

I doubt he’ll ever have elite running capacity, therefore other than behind the ball it’s hard to see where he fits full time.

Clark is a talent for sure, but as an outside midfielder that can't spread he doesn't have a role in our side.

When he gets the ball he is able to create time and space, but not run.

Will be a gun if he can get to a club that can use his talent.

Maybe they realised they can't turn spuds into star players, regardless of their age.

Will we pick up a player in the SSP window :?:
