Re: Bedford misses
Don't understand the system. What are the grounds for appeal, automatically granted, did Fisher run into an unsuspecting Bedford, how does the MRO and tribunal seemingly get so many decisions wrong? Is the go just keep appealing until an exhausted bureaucracy gives in. When is the point of unreasonable dissent. AFL has become a circus.
Contrast the constipated after the game challenge system with the terrible real time unappealable umpiring errors. Nuts.
Anyway, who cares if Bedford plays or not. Hardly a world beater and even if it was T. Greene, here they are nearly two weeks on fluffing around some arcane semantic exercise. FGS, get clinically professional.

Re: Bedford misses
If we play at our best we have an excellent chance of winning no matter what their line-up is, as long as AFL tribunal system is timely and accountable. The issue of keeping our coaching staff in the dark is nothing short of contempt.

Re: Bedford misses
From the tribunal findings:
“The Head Impact Assessment undertaken by Fisher provides some support for the conclusion that a concussion injury may have occurred as a result of this bump.
It’s not possible to form an opinion about the forcefulness of the impact between Bedford and Fisher from the video.
On the key issue of whether Bedford caused forceful contact to be made with any part of his body to Fisher’s head or neck, we are satisfied that such contact was made.”
I believe they will attempt to argue about the “forcefulness” of the impact as the tribunal was unable to come to a conclusion on this matter. Kingsley on 360 hinted that they would.
I probably wouldn’t be happy if one of our players was rubbed out for something like that but them’s the breaks.

Is that suddenly out the window now because of finals.
I hate how they AFL change policy mid season. They are all over the shop.

Re: Bedford misses
The court of public opinion has him playing against us. The second tribunal appeal usually follows that.

Re: Bedford misses
He’ll probably get off because of all the media and public pressure but if there’s no new evidence that Fisher wasn’t hit in the head, then the original finding and suspension should stand.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Appeals Board comes to a different conclusion on the "forcefulness" of the contact on Fisher. I don't think that would be a great look for the process, but at the end of the day, they can do whatever they want. They would lose any credibility they had if they did that.

Re: Bedford misses
Whatever the result of the appeal it is an absolute disgrace that he and his club have to wait until today (11 days after the incident) to get a result
There is no doubt if this was a known (Victorian) player it would not have gone on like this
There are times when the AFL system is ordinary (at best)

Re: Bedford misses
The right call but took a circus to get there.
MRO Tribunal and appeals are a basket case. Laura Kane needs to sort it out before next season. More of an issue than ARC.

Re: Bedford misses
I’m not sure if it was the right call.
Bedford’s action was careless and they are trying to protect the head or so we have been told.
They are just being very inconsistent about it.
Christian should have the balls to let some of these incidents go and stop wasting everyone’s time.

Bedford is no Baker. We know that now.

Re: Bedford misses
Fisher wasn't concussed. He played on.
The MRO and the tribunal are incompetent. The commentators and the media are driving the agenda on every incident.
They should just appoint Gerard Whately as the MRO and be done with it.
The head is sacrosanct but every now and then they totally balls things up. Either missing the obvious severe injuries or picking up on minor bumps like this one from Bedford
E.g listen to the commentator talking through his arse when Ryder stood his ground and Will Day got whiplash from it. Watch it closely.Ryder didn't make contact with Day's head.

Someone like Ryder got suspended when he made zero contact while Hunter Clark gets his head caved in, jaw smashed to pieces - fair play!!
They just have no common sense. Clark was severely concussed and his face is bloodied ...but
The AFL and the the overwhelming majority of the media (Gerard fvcking Whately in particular) called it a footy action. Far#ing clowns

Re: Bedford misses
The head is not truly sacrosanct and most players who are in line for Mark of the Year or the atrempted ones, are testament to those.
I feel for Clark and his injuries but I am yet to be convinced it was anything other than a football action that caused them. Someone who protected themselves better when entering a contested ball situation.
Let's add that the stricter concussion protocols / penalties were not in place when Clark got hammered.

Re: Bedford misses
What a waste of time and money.
Charade.
Every one knows during finals interstate clubs do not get players suspended.
May do something that gets criminal charges laid but no AFL sanction.

Re: Bedford misses
Surprise Surprise
Let's just forget all about Fisher undergoing a concussion test
I mean why would you undergo a concussion test if you weren't hit in the head?
