“Ross has been prepping us through the whole year for September. This is where we want to be, and I guess there’s not a whole lot of change because we’ve been preparing each week like it’s September anyway.”
Let’s go boys, bring it on

Not sure I'm a fan of this.
"Every week like it's September" needs to be backed up with "now this is the real September and we have to step it up".
Can't be leaving anything on the table.

Well I’m absolutely sure I’m a fan of this
Every week like September gets you there and while doing so hardens you up and prepares you for the main event
Who in their right mind wouldn’t know that they have to step up in the finals?
Maybe RTB should’ve just let them sort it out for themselves ?
Sorry otiman but that post just blew me away

I appreciate your point of view, but my thought is you don't win a marathon by sprinting. Let me try and convince you.
For players who were 80% fit, they might look after themselves a bit more for long term goals (Hill last week). Fitness goals should peak at finals time (look at Geelongs mid season training load over the last 10 years).
When there's no next week after a loss the stakes are higher and it shows.
There's a reason finals footy is different to round 22.
Maybe the preparation feels the same but game day cannot be, that's the sign of a side who is inexperienced in finals.

Fair points Otto
Just think it’s a lot simpler than that
90% in the head
