Re: Lyon on Footy Classified Now
I’m kidding …I did love it tho
He was very good as usual and honest
Gresham comment interesting…I think he’s gone
Clear they want the draft but will prioritise midfield and outside leg speed
He’s definitely mellowed- said his assistants do it all
Knows how to work a crowd

Re: Lyon on Footy Classified Now
Just broadly paraphrasing.
Seemed to rule out Owens as a clearance midfielder in finals, saying he’d found his place forward. Said similar about Windhager, that he’d found his place on wing/half back.
Who knows whether he is foxing.
Said the aim was to hang on to Gresham.
Said the club wanted to build on Owens, Windhager, Phillipou with more young talent.
Spoke highly of Caminiti, saying you could have used a top 10 pick on him as a key position forward, yet we picked him up for next to nothing.

Re: Lyon on Footy Classified Now
I didn’t see the interview but it sounds like he was as cryptic as usual: one poster has him desperate to keep Gresham and another has him saying Gresham is gone!
But he’s spot on that our recruiting priorities are mids and outside runners: those are the positions in which all of our first choice players are either approaching 30 or have already turned 30, so it’s pretty obvious.

We'd like to keep Gresham for sure. We'd just like it to be for one year at a time.
Two tops.

Sounds to me like Owens forward may mean Sharman makes way for Ross and we have just the two key forwards in King and Membrey.bigcarl wrote: ↑Thu 31 Aug 2023 12:32am Just broadly paraphrasing.

Re: Lyon on Footy Classified Now
Foxing for sure. WIndy will play centre/wing and Owens in the centre.
They might be named forward and back, and start there at the first bounce, but that won't last long.
IMO Windhager will have a better finals series than Owens.
