No umpires have been confirmed yet for any game.
Maybe all the goal umps are on strike after Gil chucked one under the bus.
They'll source them from Centrelink ?

Re: Hayes in, King managed
Actually, I've been called up. But I'll be calling it via video (as usual) and it will be broadcast over the loud speakers at the ground. I'm replacing the four field and two goal umpires. It'll be a big pay day. I'm just polishing my whistle.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Thu 24 Aug 2023 7:29pm No umpires have been confirmed yet for any game.

Re: Hayes in, King managed
Good idea, however I think RoMa has a chance at the Trevor Barker Medal this year and it'd be unfair to deny him a chance to win it.
Sinclair has had a wonderful season but don't discount Rowan. Maybe that's one reason why he wants to play and why the coaches want to let him play
I know it's a team sport, but it would be great for his career if he gets a best and fairest medal. Playing him in Round 24 is something that he deserves at least. He's been in great form

As much as I’d love to see it, there always seems to be a Smokey that they promote at this time of year, to try and keep it interesting.

Better still, dispense with goal umpires altogether. Not only won't they have to pay them their salaries, but they won't have to buy food for the guide dogs.

He's named first of the emergencies, so that's a definite possibility. He and Hayes could add something in September, so good if they both get a go

Ah! Hopefully he gets a run anyway. No.1 is a very low number. The other possibles are R.Byrnes (13) J.Billings (15) and
T.Campbell (38)

Must do him good to know he is even in the discussion

This will not be very amusing I am afraid, but I am disappointed that mr King won’t begin.
Thought he needed ‘match and match-up conditioning’
You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

Re: Hayes in, King managed
They’re resting him as I understand it.
It’s a chance for Ross to get a look at Hayes and possibly Coff before the final(s). As both could add something I think it’s a good call.
King’s having a should procedure post-season regardless, it was reported when he came back earlier than expected. From memory, medical advice was that he couldn’t damage it further in the meantime.
