Makes sound commercial common sense ...with Soccer in the hearts and minds of Sydney people recently
Got to get them focused back on AFL and no better way than Sydney winning games of footy

Gee that’s a crap decision. It certainly looked like a deliberate bump to the head, albeit spontaneous rather than premeditated.

Wow!
They were discussing the appeal on SEN this afternoon and giving it no chance of succeeding, even suggesting they might add a week.

I can't say I have a lot of sympathy for them here - remember what happened to Hunter Clark? And the media all rallying around saying that the bump was in jeopardy - well, guys, looks like the bump is alive and well!

Re: Tom McCartin suspension overturned
This is exactly the sort of bump they want to stop players doing. All year we've had headlines with class actions from former AFL players and the emphasis on protecting the head and the long term effects of brain injury.
It's a decision based on the AFL's short term commercial interests at the expense of changing player behaviour.
If Sydney weren't playing finals there's no way he would have got off

But I don't see how the Crows could take the high ground here:Scollop wrote: ↑Tue 22 Aug 2023 9:10pm This is exactly the sort of bump they want to stop players doing. AFL operations are in disarray. It's lucky there is no regulatory body. Amateur hour mistakes and plain incompetence may make grist for the media but this is serious stuff. Wait till Collingwood or Carlton suffer because no one is minding the store. Disgrace on Commission and lame duck Gill who will have to be dynamited off the AFL teat.

No they've never had a 'plot' to begin with. The AFL have lacked professionalism for quite some time now and have gone backwards with their last two bewildering CEO appointments. Describing Demetriou and McLachlan as amateurish is being kind to them.

Re: Tom McCartin suspension overturned
Their in house legal team must be lightweight. Allowing intent as a defence is nuts. Mc Cartin could have slowed to miss the contest but didn't. The head is sancrosanct only sometimes and case law is all over the shop. Plenty of injustices to follow when you make it up on the run. Maybe you could argue you thought it was a team mate and collision rules don't apply.
