Best of luck for the future Josh.
Rugby League would have to be the stupidest, most moronic and over rated game of all time.

Re: Josh Bruce has retired
Tom Hickey not playing on in 2024
Not starting a separate thread, but he's another former Saint that announced his retirement today and will hang up the boots at the end of the year.
By the way, he'll be central to the Swan's chances against Melbourne this week and also in their finals campaign
If we meet the Swines, hope RoMa destroys him...but god luck in the future Tom

Hickey has always been a reasonable to good player. I think Marshall has his measure.

Re: Josh Bruce has retired
I always really liked Josh…
Suffered a bit from having to play in the ruck with us but I always thought he was a decent player and was sad to see him go.
Ultimately not the worst decision ever as I think it’s fair to say his best footy was with us but sad that he had such a rough time with injuries.
As far as Hickey goes… liked him to but always found him to be an enigma of a ruck. Looked great, then riding, was pretty lacklustre at WCE and somehow Sydney found the magic formula for him.
As it’s likely we’ll play him… hopefully we can be the team to put him in retirement

Re: Josh Bruce has retired
True. But we kept playing that dud from Brisbane in preference to Hickey. Never made sense to me. Hickey was pretty good in ruck and around the ground.magnifisaint wrote: ↑Tue 22 Aug 2023 6:19pm Hickey has always been a reasonable to good player. I think Marshall has his measure.

Re: Josh Bruce has retired
I always liked Bruce for his effort and hard work during a strange era but he's definitely made a few unnecessary comments after leaving the Saints...
And then finishes with this...
"The move to the Bulldogs has been one of the most defining moments of my life."
He played 99 games with us and what, 16 with WB... Anyway, who cares, turned out to be a reasona bnle trade with his unfortunate injuries.

Re: Josh Bruce has retired
Sad to see Bruce retire through injury.
Regardless of personal comments about Josh, he was a decent AFL player at the Saints.
You would never question his effort.
At least the trade was a nil all draw, unlike many others during the last 10 years.

Re: Josh Bruce has retired
We basically got Zac Jones for Bruce
Yep
Pretty much nil all
Both played some cracking games, a lot of ordinary ones and a lot of time injured!

Regarding Josh Bruce, that was disingenuous, I would suggest that unless you know from your own experience, that you keep your trap shut.
Rugby League would have to be the stupidest, most moronic and over rated game of all time.

Re: Josh Bruce has retired
Maybe he was talking about how much more salary he earned. Maybe the financial element will impact his personal life going forward a lot longer than his time and games played at the St Kilda FCrealdeal wrote: ↑Tue 22 Aug 2023 7:28pm I always liked Bruce for his effort and hard work during a strange era but he's definitely made a few unnecessary comments after leaving the Saints...

It’s also worth noting that it’s just general etiquette to put over where you’re at as opposed to where you’ve been,Scollop wrote: ↑Tue 22 Aug 2023 9:02pmMaybe he was talking about how much more salary he earned. “Just want to thank the Western Bulldogs for all the support they’ve shown me over the last few years but yeah really, the Saints is where I played my best football… pbly is where my heart is at and def my best memories. Ah yeah so thanks for the big pay cheque Doggies. Sorry it didn’t work out like we hoped. I tried. Peace out”
That wouldn’t exactly go down well

Happy Feet
I’ll post what I’ll fkn like!
Comment from a staffer at StK about Josh
Most players will be happy to see the back of him!
I really like Josh as a player, hard working power forward!
I’d preferred we kept him as he would’ve been great for Max having another bear forward (197, 100) to support him
Tim is really a third banana who has always been asked to play taller than he is.

Fair enough, poor form to bag someone as they retire, IMO.

Re: Josh Bruce has retired
I love it when former Saints players retire as I hate the Saints playing against them.
