Can't see them omit both Butler and Gresham.
Butler should play because of his strong tackling pressure and goal kicking.
Bench: Windhager, Butler, Billings and Clark, Stocker the sub.

Happily engaged to a beautiful woman - she supports Collingwood though which is painful.Scollop wrote: ↑Fri 21 Jul 2023 1:29amI hear you want to come out of the closet. It's ok. Don't be scared. Wear your pride scarf with prideTheGreatZacsby wrote: ↑Fri 21 Jul 2023 1:00amScollop don’t go back tracking now. You have been talking Bytel up like no tomorrow to the point that I think you fantasise about him at night. You gotta back him now as you have been saying he is champion all year.
If he blows the lid off against North I “might” eat my words and say you were right, but again we are playing the second worst team in the comp being North.
But after all our qualms, I want you to back Jackie Bytel because you have been talking him up all year and it’s chance now.
Vortex has stuck by Cooper Sharman and his last two games have been great. Time for you to do the same. If he goes out with an injury in the first quarter you know I will be saying I told you so…

Not trying to kid anyone. The AFL rule is that you cant list the final 22 until the friday at 5pm for sunday games. You literally are not allowed to announce the final team before then.

Likely Byrnes ahead of Stocker.
Billings to get more kms in his legs then hopefully plays out the season.

Odds on it will be Byrnes.

Re: Jack Byte’s back. Team v Roos
Will be fascinating to see if Byrnes and Stocker get another game this season. Has Ross seen enough?
Stocker has been okay, but hasn't been terribly noticeable in games of late. When a reporter was praising Stocker in an after match presser a few weeks back, Ross was not forthcoming with any praise for him. In fact, he was intimating that Stocker had been just okay and had more work to do.
The form line of Byrnes has been trending downward for quite a while, and apart from a high possession quarter here and there, he hasn't been of much value. Ross has given him every chance, but I think he's finally come to the conclusion that Byrnes presents no danger to the opposition. I've been defending Byrnes since day one, but I have to admit that he may not get any better than he is right now. If that's the case, then someone is bound to take his position in the team permanently.

Byrnes may well be sub on Sunday, but I think the writing is on the wall for the remainder of 2023

Stocker, Peris and Byrnes have been made the scape goats, while blokes like Hill, Ross and Phillipou keep getting games FFS!
Phillipou’s manager must’ve made it clear to RTB, that if his client doesn’t play every game this year then he’ll be asking for a trade back to one of the SA clubs.
Why else is the kid still in the team, his form has been very ordinary since round 6 or 7.

Re: Jack Byte’s back. Team v Roos
I don’t think that’s the case at all. They are trying to fast track his development. He’s going to learn a lot more keeping up at AFL level than wasting away at Sandringham.saintbob wrote: ↑Fri 21 Jul 2023 8:38pm Stocker, Peris and Byrnes have been made the scape goats, while blokes like Hill, Ross and Phillipou keep getting games FFS!

It’s not to dissimilar to what the doggies were doing with Marcus Bontempelli or freo was doing with Nat Fyfe which are the two players he’s likened too.
If you compare the players below.
Bont debut year in 2014:
Games - 16
Disposals - 15.9 (avg per game)
Marks - 2.9 (avg per game)
Tackles - 3.4 (avg per game)
Goals - 0.9 (avg per game)
Clearances - 2.2 (avg per game)
Fyfe debut year in 2010
Games - 18
Disposals - 16.1
Marks - 4.6
Tackles - 3.0
Goals - 0.8
Clearances - 1.7
Mattaes debut year so far:
Games - 17* (including 1 game subbed off)
Disposals - 13.4
Marks - 3
Tackles - 2.1
Goals - 0.5
Clearances - 0.9
I can live with the lower disposals, tackles and clearances as Mattaes is mainly playing forward and not mid, and the goals are lower due to our disgustingly poor efficiency going forward. But he’s tracking well. Kid needs more games.

Re: Jack Byte’s back. Team v Roos
I’m under the impression that Stocker hasn’t quite nailed the game plan/structure that RTB wants. Quite a few games he’s been benched for extended periods and the coach seems to have lost his cool with him. Regardless..saintbob wrote: ↑Fri 21 Jul 2023 8:38pm Stocker, Peris and Byrnes have been made the scape goats, while blokes like Hill, Ross and Phillipou keep getting games FFS!

Good kid and he’ll be back

Byrnes is the only one of the emergencies to play with Sandringham today which means any one of Billings, Stocker or Campbell will be sub.
