Agree with most of that except Tom Campbell, agree we need backup ruckman but Tom has no place on an AFL field so I’d be looking to bring in another ruck option that is on the fringe at another club on a one year deal and keep churning over fringe ruck options on one year deals until the longer term option comes along.
You're right about Campbell Vortex, hasn't got the ability to play at elite level.

Ross Lyon was very proactive the last time he coached St Kilda by bringing in Steven King and Michael Gardiner to fix what he identified was a major deficiency in the list he inherited from GT.

I'm pretty sure he will have come to the same conclusion this year, so I expect he will be getting Gubby and SOS to go all out to bring in at least one experienced tap ruckman.

Brodie Grundy might be high on the list but I somehow think he'll go to Geelong if Melbourne decide to let him go, which is doubtful.

Todd Goldstein is a possibility as he still has a few miles left on the clock, but don't know....

Andrew Phillips, formerly GWS, Carlton and now out of contract at Essendon could well be a good option, he is 32 but is having an outstanding season and would certainly get a regular game.

Yes agree Sancto, until we can find a long term option for our ruck stocks we should recruit these fringe types that have still got a few years left in them but unfortunately Tom hasn't worked out.

Wilkie Howard ………
Wanganeen-Milera ………. Coffield
Hill ………. Phillipou
Higgins ……… Owens
……… King ………
Marshall Steele Sinclair

Windhager Clark ……….. ………. ……..

There are some useful players left out of the above such as Battle, Billings, Woods, Gresham, Membrey, Crouch who in the normal course would be selected

So the math is 9 “holes” and 6 identified which brings in the likes of Sharman, Jones and Byrnes

And, doing this whilst watching the cricket, there may be some my lack of concentration omits

But you get the drift

A small defender able to lock down the best small forwards (and initiate), another key defender, a class mid also able to mark overhead so creating chaos when going forward, another key forward, a couple of talented small/mid forwards, some more midfield resources and support for Marshall

The question is do we have juniors on our List who can graduate to fill these requirements?

So Adams or Van Es, Caminiti or Keeler, Peris and others we currently do not know much about (but the powers that be will know)

Of those I have named, only Hill is at an age where longevity is a question

I doubt that Wanganeen-Milera will stay on a half back flank - he is just too good

And maybe King away from the tight constraints of full forward

Not as silly as it sounds.

At some point that might be an “exploration” worth embarking on if he continues to struggle close to goals.

I think that’s a good idea
I’ve always like a rotating high and deep forward model of Max and Ben King
I can dream

I'd swap a few positions around.

Pou and Windy onto the ball.
Sinclair back to HBF
Milera to the wing.

Looking at it like you have is a good exercise.

If we back in Keeler, Heath and co I think we need.

1 x Key back
1 x depth ruck
1 x back pocket (although could be Paton/Stocker)

Mids mids mids- particularly ones who can hit the scoreboard or go forward.
