ST KILDA's Jack Peris will make his AFL debut against Gold Coast on Saturday.
A Category B rookie selection via the Saints' Next Generation Academy in 2021, Peris will play his first AFL game in round 18.
The son of Olympic gold medallist Nova Peris, Jack has kicked at least one goal in each of his past three VFL games for Sandringham.

That seems to be forgotten with the Nova hype.

Terrific guy Dan, and great Australian sprinter.
Very tough being an Aussie sprinter in the world scene.
Nova was a great all round athlete, Dan a superior track athlete.

Geez, I'm not sure Bytel would get a game if we were down to 20 fit players.
Clark is also a mystery.
Good luck to Peris, exciting for the kid.

Re: Line up this week,
Training standards possibly. He didn't sweat enough during practice drills. He didn't stand in the right spot during defensive zoning or he totally zoned out during the opposition planning meeting
Either way, Pou gets a game ahead of one of our most effective mids. That's 19 games in a row for Mattaes (I'm also counting the 2 practice games prior to Round 1)

Re: Line up this week,
Clark only played 3/4's in the VFL last week and still looked rusty. If he plays he will be the sub, Sandringham have another bye this week so if he doesnt make the sub he will get another weeks training to prepare for the following week.Scollop wrote: ↑Thu 13 Jul 2023 8:03pmTraining standards possibly. Geezus Lyon can’t win
One week he’s not exploring enough….whatever that is
Next week continues to plays kids like Pou and debuts another kid
Still Shiite canned
“Yeah….nah””
Re: Line up this week,
Didn't do enough at Sandy against Casey, a couple of nice things and showed his skills, but the Casey onballers ran off him pretty easily. I get the feeling that Lyon wants fit, hard runners in the team, and Clark just looked a little puffed and is probably going at 80%

We could do with a bit more height/strength/experience up forward. I guess Hayes is a match or two off

Re: Line up this week,
It’s a mark of some mysterious factor x, that we remain competitive in many of the games we have ultimately lost this season - especially when you consider the personal and how mediocre they are playing based on their reputations and alleged potential.
Hunter Clark is prime example of a potential star
He looked good- ….ish …
But NWM has risen to balance that
So many others have dropped or have quickly diminished in in the would-be-the-next-big-thing stakes.
I’m a big Hunter fan. But he’ll really have to turn it on now.
we are seeing the real thing now..we are out of our fantasy land. We see Howard and Battle and even Wilkie exposed
We see Sinclair not hitting targets when pressed into midfield duties. No one sacred anymore. Even King.

Sinclair a great example
HB star - when the whole game is being played downfield in front of you
But different in midfield…

Re: Line up this week,
Saints team named, Suns firm to an incredible $1.51.
Either we have big negative issues not made public or all the billionaires on the Suns Board and Gill have plonked on the Suns.
I find those odds inexplicable for 6th v 14th; 107% v 93%. We have a good road trip record this year. What gives.
Troubling because money talks.

Re: Line up this week,
It seems there are divided loyalties up there.
Players and staff stunned and saddened to see the end of Dew - who they loved - the board and CEO keen to get Hardwick in next season.
I hope we thump them, though our form doesn’t really support that outcome.

They could be only one game behind us after Saturday, all of the teams from 5th to 16th are all pretty average that’s why it’s confusing huh.

Re: Line up this week,
Just spoke to someone on GC who saw Clark on a run this morning. Perhaps the Sub - played 3/4 game at Sandy Sunday and all things being ok transitions back in as the sub and to me is a sub which could have an impact in a qtr and a half.Saint2 wrote: ↑Thu 13 Jul 2023 8:42pmDidn't do enough at Sandy against Casey, a couple of nice things and showed his skills, but the Casey onballers ran off him pretty easily. Re: Line up this week,
My hunch is that GC will try some fast-flowing attacking footy.
We better be on our guard or it could be a repeat of that Spud game of 2022, when Essendon, bottom of the barrel, just pounced on us and rang rings around us at the start. We will be playing catch-up. We had better be ready and soak up the initial tsunami of freedom that they will be riding.

Re: Line up this week,
They are betting on the dead coach bounce. For those on here who point to our recent form of two wins from five games, I would suggest the Suns form is not any better - they have lost matches to Carlton and Collingwood by well over ten goals. They also fell away badly against Port as well losing by six goals, and Port have a few out now.Yorkeys wrote: ↑Fri 14 Jul 2023 11:42am Saints team named, Suns firm to an incredible $1.51.

They have beaten Hawthorn with their best player out and won two games in Darwin a while back. I would respectfully suggest that they have been lucky when they played some teams as well, whereas we have not. This week is no exception (coach sacked/King and Membrey injured) except this time I trust our coach to get the job done against the rookie.
Your friendly neighbourhood samurai.

You really are a Ross disciple - in Ross you trust!
I reckon Ross could take a dump in the middle of the DFC pool and you’d justify - and hail it as a master stroke!!!!
Instead of drinking the kool aid have have your own opinion
BTW
I continue to say - Ross is a good coach, better than Ratten!
But he isn’t some sort of football coaching god who can do no wrong!!!!
You know my thoughts on coaches anyway
