Bailey Sniff
SEN reporting that Geelong are circling Bailey Smith. At 22 years of age, I would've thought his run and clearance work is the point of difference our midfield is crying out for. Given we will clear $1.4Million a year if Gresham and Billings leave, we would have more than ample cap room available to pay him overs to attract.
Understand his disposal entering inside 50 isn't great, although that is an issue that has primarily plagued him in 2023 in this new bizarre role Beveridge has him playing. I'd be doing anything to leave the dogs at this point, they are a complete basket case.

Re: Bailey Sniff
Don’t blow a significant portion of your SC on any one player
Particularly a run of the mill midfielder
Glad we didn’t get Sheil in 2018 (King) for a similar deal

He is playing crap and seems unprofessional. Bulldogs are going ok without him doing much. Go to Geelong by all means.

Re: Bailey Sniff
The Bulldogs would only be happy to lose a player like that for one reason. Apparently he has some significant off field issues, they have problems at the Kennel. He can play, if the club think they can get him away from his current influences then maybe. Otherwise it would be a pass!Brunswicksainter wrote: ↑Wed 12 Jul 2023 2:04pm SEN reporting that Geelong are circling Bailey Smith. Re: Bailey Sniff
Young Bailey has some issues that he can't shake and will struggle to while he continues to have smoke blown up his clacker. Highly likely he needs a new club, but before or after an attitude adjustment? That's the question.
Just clarity on the OP, surely the current combined salaries of Gresham and Billings cannot be $1.4m? Billings took a haircut to $500K at the most & I cannot see Gresham being on $900K. That said, I genuinely hope another club wishes to offer him that amount

Why do you think Billings is leaving? He is contracted until the end of 2025!Brunswicksainter wrote: ↑Wed 12 Jul 2023 2:04pmGiven we will clear $1.4Million a year if Gresham and Billings leave, we would have more than ample cap room available to pay him overs to attract.

stmike threw the cat amongst the pigeons a few weeks back stating he didn't believe Billings and Gresham would be at the club next season.Life Long Saint wrote: ↑Wed 12 Jul 2023 3:23pmWhy do you think Billings is leaving? Contracted this year so the Dogs will want a bounty.
Saints shouldn't overpay like in the case of a contracted Hill.

Top skills, but seems like a front-runner and drifts out of games when the pressure is on

Re: Bailey Sniff
Cause Gresham has the kicking action of a crab and Billings is a list clogger. Brutal but to the point. If Lyon is here to rebuild then expect these two salary soakers to be moved on within minutes of the home and away season ending.
If you doubt it will happen then I take you back to Lyons comments in his first press conference where he said we have the salary cap of Geelong but a list that looks like North….or something along those lines, I’m paraphrasing.

Has been struggling with personal issues his whole career. Very talented, but a risky proposition for any club wanting to pursue him

Re: Bailey Sniff
I’m with Vortex on this. Gresham is a selfish player and isn’t consistent. Billings is consistently injured and never lived up to his hype. Would love to trade them both out and bring in picks and Bailey Sniff.Vortex wrote: ↑Wed 12 Jul 2023 7:14pmCause Gresham has the kicking action of a crab and Billings is a list clogger. Gresham’s salary is 800k this season and my believe was that billings was on 600k. Wasn’t aware of the hair cut.Ghost Like wrote: ↑Wed 12 Jul 2023 3:02pm Young Bailey has some issues that he can't shake and will struggle to while he continues to have smoke blown up his clacker. I don’t think we would be getting rid of them. They both will likely leave on their own terms. Billings to Essendon has been hinted for years and Carlton are circling Gresham.

Unsure whether billings will leave although you think he would for more opportunity elsewhere.Life Long Saint wrote: ↑Wed 12 Jul 2023 3:23pmWhy do you think Billings is leaving? Re: Bailey Sniff
In the current climate you can't just add the players wages and say that's the extra space we would have in the salary cap.
If Billings is on 600k and we trade him to a team that thinks he's worth 450k, we would probably have to pay him the difference out of our salary cap for the duration of his Saints contract.

Re: Bailey Sniff
Bailey smith is a gun but for some reason he is being played as a half forward at present not as a mid. That’s what happens when players are played out of position, their input declines. That’s why I am against moving Sinclair out of defence.
As for getting him it would depend on his cost but wouldn’t sell the farm for him.

WOW, Gresham's on $800K? He'll look like Right Said Fred after this year's haircut.Brunswicksainter wrote: ↑Wed 12 Jul 2023 11:23pmGresham’s salary is 800k this season and my believe was that billings was on 600k. Re: Bailey Sniff
What do you think the cost would be? This years first and next years first? id argue that's actually an alright deal, given has only 22 and has at least 10 seasons of football in him (unlike hanners, hill and crouch previously) also yet to enter the prime years of his career.DJ Higgins wrote: ↑Thu 13 Jul 2023 9:39am Bailey smith is a gun but for some reason he is being played as a half forward at present not as a mid.
