Re: Coaches Votes Round 17 v Demons
3 Melbourne players and 3 St Kilda players
That's a fair indication that we had a red hot crack and if circumstances were different we could have had a victory.
If I recall correctly we kicked away to a decent lead early in the game and then the injuries mounted. The team should take some belief out of the game that we can match it with the top teams

Re: Coaches Votes Round 17 v Demons
They don't come any easier to break down
May 5 + 5 = 10
Marshall 4 + 3 = 7
Petracca 3 + 4 = 7
W- Milera 2 +2 = 4
Steel 1 + 0 = 1
Brayshaw 0 +1 = 1
May 5 + 5 = 10
Marshall 4 + 3 = 7
Petracca 3 + 4 = 7
W- Milera 2 +2 = 4
Steel 1 + 0 = 1
Brayshaw 0 +1 = 1

Reasonably accurate
Sinclair a bit stiff…. Brayshaw?
May
Another key defender gets max votes against us

Re: Coaches Votes Round 17 v Demons
Steele 31 possessions at 80% disposal efficiency.13 contested, 12 tackles and a goal
Sinclair 33 possessions at 66% DE, 9 contested, 1 tackle and zero goals.
Clearances, inside 50's, score involvements pretty even between Sincs and Steele but Steele had 30 pressure acts and Sinclair had only 13.
Interestingly, Sinclair got 4 clearances in the centre square from only 10 attendances while Steele got zero CC (that's despite Steele being in the centre at virtually all centre bounces). Steele did get 4 stoppage clearances around the ground. Sincs got 1.
Sinclair 620 MG. Steele 470 MG. Steele had 7 intercept possessions and turned it over 3 times. Sinclair had 3 intercept possessions and turned it over 7 times.

Re: Coaches Votes Round 17 v Demons
I don't understand. I thought Marshall was clearly the best man on the ground. He beat 2 of the better rucks in the game. May had a decent game because St Kilda didn't have a decent key forward to kick to.

I reckon you're right. Perhaps it's natural to lean towards May because he was instrumental in the final result.
If we actually ended up winning the game you'd have both coaches giving Marshall 5 votes each.
Problem is we didn't

And pretty sure he took almost as many marks as May - many were intercepts and in a more damaging area of the ground. However, as someone has said, if it got past Marshall - we were stuffed.magnifisaint wrote: ↑Tue 11 Jul 2023 11:05am I don't understand. I thought Marshall was clearly the best man on the ground. Its a bit like Nick Daicos. He get 28 touches its like hes played the greatest game in history. NWM 32 touches barely rates a mention.Sainter_Dad wrote: ↑Wed 12 Jul 2023 8:37amAnd pretty sure he took almost as many marks as May - many were intercepts and in a more damaging area of the ground.
