It's Hard to Win
It is hard to win when you only have 17 players on the field for 71% of the time.
Pooh runs around like a headless chook.
On a few occasions the ball accidentally hits him.
But bounces away.
Sometimes an opposition player crashes into him and it is recorded as a tackle.
Those same players like it when he handballs to them.
How he gets a game can not be explained but when he goes into the centre square you know the coaches are joking.
Bytel wearing a blindfold would be of more value.
Pooh needs time at Sandringham to develop his trade.

Byrnes was awful. Poo was terrible. Steele's game is off but tries his guts out. Just a scrappy awful game. Billings has to play instead of Byrnes.

Re: It's Hard to Win
Just shows the team is valuing development over wins.
I'm OK with that.
Pou is the future. And he needs to be developed as a midfielder. We don't need any more half forwards.
Byrnes has the opportunity to become the player we need.
What was Sincs doing at ages 18-21?

Max hasn't set the world on fire in the last 3 weeks.
Someone needs to twch him to lead.
Our forward line can't kick a decent score against a team that had 200+ points kicked against it last week by the Swans.

Re: It's Hard to Win
Sincs has always been highly skilled
In 2018 when he was moved to the wing from a forward pocket - he starred!
Byrnes is a tryer - like Paton
List worthy but not team worthy - fringe at best

FYI we won. You might want to rethink your first sentence. It is obvious to me "we", ie, the Club, values both.Otiman wrote: ↑Sun 02 Jul 2023 9:25pm Just shows the team is valuing development over wins.

Max has no problem taking a contested mark on the wing but struggling forward at the momentBruce G McAbee wrote: ↑Sun 02 Jul 2023 9:26pm Max hasn't set the world on fire in the last 3 weeks.

Poe is a funny one ..way too young to be playing against men at this level..but what an education ...he will shine next year and there after ...he's just a kid and showing some good signs ..long way to go.

Pou is a future captain. Byrnes has upside. Byrnes run in that last quarter and his gut running helped to secure a win

Re: It's Hard to Win
While we weren't, exactly at our best, I thought WC actually played like a proper team yesterday. It didn't help us that they kicked a few goals out of their arse but, luckily, they started missing a few in the last qtr.
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
St Kilda - At least we have a Crest!

Re: It's Hard to Win
I wouldn't be too hard on Byrnes- he put his body in and tried his guts out when some of his teammates hung back from the contest, and had more positives than negatives. King, Higgins and Gresh are playing selfish footy- their body language says it all- time for a Lyon boot up the bum and a lesson in team play

He was far from a problemSaint2 wrote: ↑Mon 03 Jul 2023 9:14am I wouldn't be too hard on Byrnes- he put his body in and tried his guts out when some of his teammates hung back from the contest, and had more positives than negatives. Re: It's Hard to Win
After Max burned his team mates and tried to kick that goal on the run from 45 metres out which went oob on the full...I thought he looked cooked.
He actually made up for it straight away. Got a second wind. He backed up with some nice contested marks in critical moments.
