Re: B&F Check
Based on the AFLCA votes: Sinclair, Wilkie, Marshall.
Based on the weekly votes here: Sinclair, Wilkie, Crouch, NWM.
Add the two together and its a two horse race.

Re: B&F Check
All of them. No particular order. Just reckon Ross has Brad playing well. Better than most. Just an idle observation.

Just a quick question; You do remember that Hill finished in the top 10 last year... don't you?
If he finishes higher than where he placed in 2022 then maybe your observation will be accurate

Re: B&F Check
Sinclair should win comfortably like last year if he plays every or almost all games.
If any players miss games it puts them at a big disadvantage the way the voting is calculated.

Amen to that - the Trevor Barker Award is almost like a participation trophy - an award for consistent mediocrity

Don’t forget to remind yourself to let the winners know that if you get a chance to meet one.Sainter_Dad wrote: ↑Sun 02 Jul 2023 9:18amAmen to that - the Trevor Barker Award is almost like a participation trophy - an award for consistent mediocrity
I’m sure the past winners would love to hear about your opinion of their mediocrity.

There have been some very worthy winners and most are fantastic
I am sure that the results in a lot of cases the result would have been the same as a 5,4,3,2,1 or even 3,2,1 - but have you noted the results and the methods of voting.
I have no problems with the winners - I have problems with the method of voting - ie rewarding being mediocre but consistently so ie:
1 vote: played role effectively (but should not be used as an encouragement reward)
2 votes: among the best for St Kilda in this game
3 votes: one, two or very occasionally, three players who are deemed the very best on ground
4 votes: an exceptionally outstanding game, very rarely given (say 10+ goals, or 45+ possessions)
So - as I see it - 22 games last season - EVERY player should be getting 5 votes every game (for playing an effective role) so that is 110 votes - Jack Steele came 3rd with 124 (Membrey and Ross finished 4th and 5th with 103 and 102 - so DID NOT PLAY THEIR ROLE EFFECTIVELY FOR 22 GAMES)
SO HOW MANY PLAYERS CANNOT BE COUNTED AS PLAYING THEIR ROLE EFFECTIVELY?
And next point - would you rather a race for the TBA between 3 players who all had best ons for 8ish games each - or the winner being a consistent role player who just happened to play 22 games?
Based on last years deserving win by Sincs - 174 votes - That is 12 games of very best on ground and so represents a worthy winner - but seriously Members and Rossy being 4th and 5th with not even enough votes to deem them playing effectively in 22 games has to be considered a participation award (or 18 games of being the best for St Kilda)
I will qualify my comments by saying ..... The winner deserve the win - rounding out 4 - 10 should not be lauded as we do in the TBA.

I thought he played well last year ...from my recollection...he was high up in the voting for the Trevor Barker Medal.
So ...I was implying that it has nothing to do with the change of coach
