Yellow Monkeys Over-Ruled
Match day reports by the yellow monkeys against Max King and Liam Stoker thrown out by MRO.

Matchday reports laid by AFL umpires are set to come under scrutiny after Max King and Liam Stocker had their reports thrown out by the match review officer.
Whistleblowers have now got the book out for no reason four times this year after Jarrod Berry (Brisbane Lions) and Izak Rankine (Adelaide) had their matchday reports discarded recently.
While King’s report for striking Ryan Lester looked an error from the moment it was laid, Stocker’s report and ultimate exoneration from MRO Michael Christian only adds to the confusion surrounding the rule.
Stocker pinned one of Eric Hipwood’s arms and took him to the ground on Friday night. But Hipwood’s head did not make contact with the turf and he was fine to take his free kick.
Ultimately that was the factor that saved Stocker.
“It was the view of the MRO that the tackle did not constitute a reportable offence including because no high contact occurred. No further action was taken,” the AFL said

Pleasantly surprised with Stocker, thought he’d go for sure, I’m beginning to gain faith in the MRO!

Yeah
I watched it a couple of times and thought stocker tried to take him down on his side but the players momentum made it more of a sling . When he wasn't injured it shouldn't have been a report .
However I still thought he'd get a week .
Must be a blue moon this month what with three players getting off .

I don't think dangerous tackles should be a free kick in any case.
If there is no incentive for players to play for a free kick, it will happen less often.
Let the suspensions do the talking.

it happens when you're one eyed - should belong to an umps forum and post there on game days perhaps?

Re: Yellow Monkeys Over-Ruled
The only legal way to potentially take out an opponent and try and physically hurt them seems to be with a foot in the back or a knee to the head for any player trying to take a speccy
We should be doing this or aiming to do more of this each quarter. As long as it's a genuine attempt to mark its deemed ok.
If you can't jump high enough to stick your knee into the temple of an opposition player you can still send them to hospital by planting the knee smack bang in the right spot to break some ribs or give them a kidney bleed
The high flying mark or speccy or Jezza is a fundamental part of our sport so it'll take another decade before they outlaw the knee to the head or pay frees against the guy trying to take a legal mark. We should be practicing it more
Seeings though the long bombs are a part of our game plan and the 30-40 metre loopy up and under is our preferred method of going inside 50, we need to deploy this 'take out your opponent' tactic and at the same time...we might get one of our guys getting Mark of the Year

Re: Yellow Monkeys Over-Ruled
That's actually got me thinking...
We need a couple of our guys to step up in the mongrel department
We need players who want to hurt the opposition.
We need to jump into the backs of our opponents and stick feet into their spines and where their kidneys are housed
Josh Battle could do it. Same with King. Mich Owens and Windy and Pou could do it. Dougs can. The Hammer should be doing it
