I played junior footy with his son and sat next to him in class when he coached Norf. Pretty sure he replaced Blight.

Cable would never get out of his car when picking up kids from footy training which I thought was strange. It’s not like he was reading text messages back then. Probably didn’t want to be bothered.

I was in Northbridge WA many years ago, maybe around 2000. and standing in a line at an ATM when Cable came past followed by a flock of young aboriginal girls.

A bit like a pied piper actually. I thought it bizarre at the time. I also thought it was just hero worship as Cable was/is an ugly man and much older than those following him. Now, on reflection I think it was quite sinister.

Don't know why it was taken this long to come out.

As a side note one of the young girls, maybe about 15 or 16 pushed me out of the line saying"Get out of my way, you white trash'. Cable just laughed.

I let her stay in line in front of me and remained mute. Not much else I could do. After all that was WA.

Some of the stories about Cable' abhorrent behavior which stretched over decades are sickening and I would be surprised if he isn't jailed afer facing criminal charges.

My mum worked at Fitzroy in the 80's. We were mad Royboy supporters. She always said is the worst mistake you can make is wanting to meet the players. They are human like everyone else and not this 'hero' that we all make them out to be in our minds. Some were lovely perfect gentleman. Some were complete tightarses who will blatantly steal from the club because they feel they are entitled to anything and everything. Some would spend all their time trying to hit on any female who walked by, some a were so unbearably vain that you wouldn't believe it unless you saw it with your own eyes. Most were as dumb as a bucket of hammers. They got away with stuff that would have seen them locked away today and almost all of it involved females and alcohol. Wasn't confined to Saints or any club in particular. A bit like supporters - they are all the same from every club, whether we want to believe it or not.
