Re: Fantastic win ..and a great reboot
Our backline work well when there is pressure on the call carrier upfield- without it no defence will stand up
They coached really really well the other night
Thought Owens deep defence at times was smart
Windy to Warner (who was troubling Seb his first oppose too reactive/slow)
Actually what I did notice focussed on Seb for a while he got a lot of tackles ….why????….second to the ball so often… he’s not alone in that midfield at times
Compare to that to Port - on the move
Lyon nailed our problem after the game - it still exists
We are not scoring from stoppage - we are still scoring from moving the footy

Re: Fantastic win ..and a great reboot
Ross Lyon is doing a good job overall and obviously he wants the mids to understand they need to lift. Thank God Parker was out and Heeney had an off day.
If we're going to compete against the better teams we have to be cleaner with clearances and win more contests at stoppages. Swans easily beat us at stoppages and won more contested footy than us
Happy to hear the senior coach mention that some of our mids aren't doing their primary job, but not all of us need to be told where our strengths and deficiencies are.
Steele and Windy were mainly looking to curb the influence of their guns. Steele was unbelievable with 30 pressure acts - double most of his team mates
Ross, Sincs, Gresh, Steele, Owens and Marshall were instrumental in getting us going and creating scoring opportunities. Those late goals by Nas, Owens and King were the difference.
Some people look at the stat sheet and think that Crouch was our most influential player on the night. I don't.
Don't get me wrong he was very good, but I think Wilkie, Owens, Marshall, Nas and Sincs had equal say for best on ground claims

Re: Fantastic win ..and a great reboot
Crouch was nowhere near best on ground fir us
He was our best mid
What I like about Lyon is he pinpoints - no emotion- where we need to get better
Thats why he devotes some of his presser to being second to the ball by our mids …
Unlike Brett who talked in platitudes and “yeah just gotta get better” ….RTB knows where/how that focus will be
There will be reasonable change to personnel end of year I’m confident in that
Regardless of finals - we are not a genuine challenger yet

You recovered after our win and superbly coached side?
Must’ve taken the wind out of your whining sails?
Rest assured we’ll drop another soon enough
The list isn’t top 4 ….we all know it!

Doesn’t matter the list if we are brilliantly coached?
Or
Doesn’t matter the coach if we have a poor list?
Your take
When we win
It’s the coach
When we lose
It’s the list
My take
It’s a combination of both when we win
And
It’s a combination of both when we lose
About
40% list
40% injuries and fitness
20% coaching and strategy
Or
Doesn’t matter the coach if we have a poor list?

Re: Fantastic win ..and a great reboot
Our last quarter was pretty good - except for the last 29 seconds.
