Batch's VFL Review

I particularly like Batch's take on Max.

"Max Heath

15 hit-outs, nine disposals, five tackles, one goal

I just spoke to Moose before, he’s a really good connector of the two teams. Obviously like everyone he’s wanting to play AFL, but he really buys into everyone at Sandringham and celebrates everyone, doesn’t discriminate and just competes, doesn’t matter what colours he’s wearing.

I love him as a player. He’s someone that you stand taller with when he brings his aggression and he did a really good job with that. His follow-up work was elite."

Marcus Windhager

36 disposals, 11 inside-50s, nine clearances, three goals

Marcus had a really good performance. For the second week in a row, he’s played his role. His ability to not only win the ball, but win it in a strong, tough manner was really pleasing.

Six tackles is good, so he defended in tight really well. Defensive transition and decision-making is a good growth area for him because he wants to round his game off the benefit the AFL team when the opportunity presents, which he’s buying into really well.
I liked this part.

Was worried Windy was going to be a mere tagger, but if he can bring this form to senior football we may have an elite midfielder on our hands down the track.

Pretty good numbers and three goals is icing on the cake.

The problem with St Kilda playing on Sundays, on top of interstate games is the senior and line coaches rarely get to see Sandringham play.
A player can knock the wall down but the coaches only receive a report and maybe watch some video.
They don't even get to coach and instruct you in real time.
To get full credit you need to be seen by the senior and line coaches.

It also means that two players don't get to play full games at the weekend instead of only one.
If you are Collingwood the best emergency gets to medical sub.
The other three emergencies gets to play for their reserves.
But at St Kilda, the second best emergency can't play because he is actually a St Kilda emergency while Sandringham is playing.
