“The template has been laid out”

The bRiLLiAnT fOoTbALL MiNdS that are David King and Kane Cornes claim Ross Lyon’s game plan has now been figured out by opposition coaches. I thought this was abundantly clear in the game against Port, where they went with a defensive man-on-man strategy. Upon reflection, yesterday’s game is curios with Adelaide forcing us to move the ball down the corridor and have us cough it up with poor disposal and bad delivery inside 50. But surely, we’re not that easy to figure out. As we know Lyon is a very shrewd coach and would have a backup plan (well, we can only hope he does). It’s also obvious that our midfield is in a form slump (not that we don’t have a particularly strong midfield, anyway. Jesus! If those numpty recruiters played their cards right, we would have Bontempelli and Petracca in that midfield right now ).
Thoughts?

Re: “The template has been laid out”
Well if opposition coaches have worked out our gameplan then we shouldn't win another game for the year
If we start winning again it will be that we have changed our system but in reality nothing much will have changed just that we started playing better again

How does that explain Q2 against Crows when we dominated them??? or losing to Port by only 7 points?Sainternist wrote: ↑Mon 15 May 2023 3:33pm https://www.sen.com.au/news/2023/05/15/ ... tid=Zxz2cZ

Sorry……don’t buy the “all we have to do is unlock their secret magic formula and they lose”
Think that’s simplistic nonsense- typical Cornes/King level analysis tbh
What we have failed to do is execute our plan with adequate skills for long enough….that’s true …
I think Lyon mentioned we were 5 points off Collingwood avg scoring output ??? We have dropped a little there but recent personnel changes haven’t helped
Lost Caminiti 3 weeks
Membrey been a liability

Re Membrey: he looked he to be finding some touch just before that concussion yesterday. It was a courageous mark and with Higgins and his opponent crashing into him from behind, he took an unlucky fall.Teflon wrote: ↑Mon 15 May 2023 4:40pmHow does that explain Q2 against Crows when we dominated them??? or losing to Port by only 7 points?Sainternist wrote: ↑Mon 15 May 2023 3:33pm https://www.sen.com.au/news/2023/05/15/ ... tid=Zxz2cZ

I agree with your other points, however.

Re: “The template has been laid out”
Every coaching group would've worked out every other club's game plan after a month of footy.
It's all about implementation, application and adaption from then on.

Re: “The template has been laid out”
Game plan/methodology is fine.
Opposition have noticed our forwards are relatively ineffective and key defenders are vulnerable in their own ways.
Rebound then target Battle or Howard.
Forwards can be relied on to not retain possession. Rest follows.

So much about personnel. If you had Gresham and King, it would hHave been a different conversation.

Re: “The template has been laid out”
I would naively suggest that every clubs game plan has been worked out. As a friend of mine in the caper says, it will always come down to the cattle.
