Speaking of ruck-fowards, how is Isaac Keeler’s progress going?

Re: Tom DeKonning
1. Heard on the radio he's #1 for hitouts to advantage.
2. We get an extra tall forward because he and Marshall will rotate between forward and ruck.
3. Marshall is 27 yrs old, so in 4 years' time when Keller and Moose are AFL ready, Marshall will be hitting twilight years.
4. De Koning is only 23 yrs old and will start hitting his prime soon.
5. He's a local boy.
6. He looks like Riewoldt and wears the #12
Sounds good enough to me.

Re: Tom DeKonning
Zero issues with the salary side of things (within reason)
Not super keen on us giving up this year's first round pick or anything too ridiculous from a trade perspective.

Re: Tom DeKonning
History says , barring injury ruckmen generally have best years from 26 onwards, anywhere up to 32. Many here saying hes 27 and in 3-4 years done.
Goldy up til last years was going pretty well.
Gawn is 31
plenty of ruckmen have been major contributors in their early 30s

Re: Tom DeKonning
Ok so in retrospect to Xerri from Norf we baulked at future 2nd rounder, I think this was because they wanted to go for Ben King and wanted as many picks available to play with. Now down the track should we have paid up and moved on.? We took Campbell instead and I think Xerri got injured round 1.

Re: Tom DeKonning
SOS wouldn’t give up a first round pick for TDK, especially with him out of contract!
As far as Xerri went, simply not good enough to give up a future 2nd.

You still have to trade for OOC players
Carlton will ask for a FRDP most definitely

Re: Tom DeKonning
If he wants to leave, you'd have to consider the fact that he is 23, and they dropped him earlier this year, because he needed a rest in round 6, after 5 years in the system and only averages 9D, 3M and 13HO.
Now we may part with a first but I'd be chasing McKay from North first, just to make Carlton think about how they might replace him, if Geelong or Essendon offer up their first.
If he nominates St.Kilda, it will be because of opportunities.
