Selection this week
With Sandy having a bye - I assume those fit had a tough session Saturday to make up for this? selection will be interesting.
Assuming injuries all minor the changes if any will be interesting:
- Does Billings come back. Talent wise in best 22 and had a good 3qtr Sandy game but does he need more game time at Sandy?
- Bytel - in form and shown too good for VFL level ?
- Windy - couple weeks as the sub probably needs a to go back and get a full game under the belt ?
Beyond that
- Sharman - been emergency a few times but hasn't smashed the door down at Sandy
- Campbell - Personally don't like 2 rucks with how Ro is playing - Like Goldy plays better with more minutes not less. Owens pinch hitting seems to work.
Cordy - get whipped here more than a drunk fool in Bali. important role player if omitted will change slightly the role someone else plays
Philipou - Love what this kid looks like he will be, but little up and down on the one spot and perhaps a freshen after 2 game sin 5 days?
Beyond that hard to find obvious changes. Guys playing their roles and at least 2 out of 3 games been good. We all have bad games from time to time.

Re: Selection this week
I think Billings should definitely come back in, he is a class player and the Port game showed we need that, maybe replacing Byrnes or Pou?
If anyone needs a rest I'd day this is the game to do it, North are no good.
I'd leave Cordy in for another week then replace him with Caminiti next week. As above, North are no good, and Ross has stuck with him for this long.

All posters are equal, but some posters are more equal than others.

Cordy stays until Caminiti returns
Billings for Philippou (needs to build his trade at VFL level for a bit)
One of Bytel or Windhager in - not sure who you drop.

For this game only, Membrey to VFL; Steele and Wood rested.
Billings for Membrey, Bytel for Steele, Windhager for Wood. Sharman emergency.
Dare you.

Wood and Steele are playing hurt. Maybe we can afford to rest both against North and play Billings and Bytel.

Re: Selection this week
IN: Billings Bytel and Heath
OUT: Phillipou, Windhager and Cordy
Give Big Moose a game as a stay at home full forward and get him to crash packs and take the odd mark or two. It’ll also give our mids a big target for the occasional long bomb into the forward line.
Windy is struggling and needs consistent game time to get back up to speed, Phillipou looks tired and made need a week off completely and then bring him back through the VFL.

Re: Selection this week
If you are looking to the future you give Phiiipou another games and debut Heath.
But if you want to make cerian of a win and a percentage boost you drop Phillipou to Sandy and ignore Heath.
The dilemna's are what to do about Cordy, Billings and Bytel.
Do you replace Cordy with Campbell, I would.
Do you bring in Billings for Byrnes, I would prefer to play Billings in the centre at Sandringham, see him run and run and accumulate heaps of disposals before bringing him back.
Who do you bring in for Philipou, I would bring in Bytel or Windhager, the other to be substitute.
I would go with Bytel but it is a tough call.

Re: Selection this week
Heath is unlikely to play his debut this year as he is still a fair way off being ready for AFL.

Re: Selection this week
North got a few injuries from their losing team
Charlie Comben broken leg unlikely to play
Callum Coleman-Jones concussed can't play
Tom Powell injured leg
Clarkson damaged reputation.

Re: Selection this week
Cordy is obviously doing something well -- and I admire him for that, and more.
But I don't understand what this 'role' he plays actually is.
If it only requires one kick and one goal in the stats department, then maybe other players might be able to do it almost as well -- and accumulate marks and possessions and goals at the same time.
I'm desperate to see Sharman have a go. His demonstrated x-factor promises so much more.
Campbell has a football brain -- couldn't he do some of what Cordy does, and be a big tap ruckman too?

I really don't know. Cordy is a premiership player and obviously of AFL standard, whereas Campbell is a very good VFL player.avid wrote: ↑Mon 01 May 2023 8:27pm Cordy is obviously doing something well -- and I admire him for that, and more.

If Windy is sub again, there's something wrong.
Lenny was an elite mid.
He wouldn't pull this shite unless Windy's hand is still wonky

Steele
Ross
Crouch
Wood
Hill
Are pretty much untouchables
Byrnes has played well, with speed and desperation
Windy and Bytel next cabs off the rank
The broken hand cost him the opportunity to make himself undroppable.
Byrnes seized his moment

Re: Selection this week
One issue with our current 22 is that we have distinct small forwards, and distinct mids. There isn't much overlap. We have overlap with small defenders (Clark, sinc) but only Gresham from the forwards.

Re: Selection this week
Billings in for Phillipou
Cordy must stay in - he plays an important role!!!!
He’s selfless - he purposely doesn’t get a kick for the team
And gives us an easy decision of who to sub out when they’ve done FA for 3 quarters?!
Actually
Against a rabble he’s likely to get 8 possessions and a couple of goals! Then we have to pick him again!!!! That’s the danger!
I’d pick Jack Lonie as a key forward over Cordy!

Coach has said he’s doing his job
And Cordy did kick sane amount of goals as Membrey last week so let them fight it out for top forward spot
Should be a good battle.

And I sure as s*** wouldn’t be thinking- f*** I really played my role well - with 1 fking kick!!!
