Forward option ? Didn’t kick a scorenostalgicsaint wrote: ↑Sun 16 Apr 2023 9:34pm Cordy was picked over Campbell because of his ability to provide a better forward option.
Picked over heath due to being AFL hardened.
Picked over members due to being match fit.
Arguably we lost this game in the forward line more than the midfield so can understand the selection.
You'll likely get your wish with cordy being replaced next week- doesn't make you anymore right this week.
Hardened ? 1 tackle, 1 mark
Match fit? Was subbed out.
I’m not scapegoating Cordy for the loss but the BS rationalisation of his role frustrates me no end.
He gets a pass for these intrinsic muttering of role, fitness, toughness that is not measured in any aspect of his performance
By comparison… Rd21 last year… the game that sunk Coops career. Played as a relief ruck, like forward in a team belted by 45 points to the premier…
12 touches 5 marks, 2 hit outs, in a performance critiques have used to permanently write him off… you’d kill for those numbers from Cordy.
I don’t get it
You could have an equal contribution in all areas from Campbell who would provide a decent chop out
You could have an equal contribution in all areas from Coops who could at least lead at the ball and pbly take a grab or 2
Highmore might have freed someone up to go into the middle more or Bytel might have won you more ball when we were smashed in clearances.
Personally… intrinsic, immeasurable contributions are usually code to justify poor performance. You’re not gaining anything this way

Re: Cordy vs Owens
I reckon Marshall/Campbell would have been better
Or Owens as second ruck and an inanimate carbon rod forward!

Merely pointing out why he was picked with few other options. In fact- pointed out he is likely to be dropped.
Sharman not at all relevant to the discussion.

Re: Cordy vs Owens
Exactly my point in the match thread. With the promising young group we have now, senior players like him need to stand up and lead the way, instead of continually being ineffective and go missing.Ghost Like wrote: ↑Sun 16 Apr 2023 9:20pm In a one goal game, it's Cordy (who you were sweating on) cops the heat. Cordy will be replaced but what about the others?

Re: Cordy vs Owens
Sharman could play fwd ruck relief
Couldn’t be worse?
7ppg
4 HOs
0.8 Goals
Not hard to match

Re: Cordy vs Owens
Is Max Heath really that bad that he could not do a ruckmen forward job better the Cordy ?
Did Cordy get a a guaranteed matches clause inserted in his contract ?

Re: Cordy vs Owens
Don’t think Max is even in the conversation as he’s not ready
He only had 7 possessions in the VFL today
It’s not about being bad - it’s about being ready
2 years off

Re: Cordy vs Owens
With Caminiti looking like he’ll miss a few weeks it seems Cordy will get a reprieve!
I thought Campbell did well when he played last year, wouldn’t mind him coming in for Cordy to do most of the rucking with Marshall playing forward.
Alternatively Sharman always looked good to me, give him a crack.

Re: Cordy vs Owens
This is what I’m saying as well. Cordy keeps getting credit for a role he’s not doing.
Alternatively… look at Campbell’s last game.
12d, 5 makes, 4 tackles, 17 hot outs
Surely that’s worth chasing

Re: Cordy vs Owens
I can't see that he has made a significant contribution in any game this year, including the practice matches.
Surely Campbell would contribute more as both a 2nd ruck and around the ground.

Re: Cordy vs Owens
I think if Caminiti wants to stay in the team then he should be the second ruck - but not sure he's ever rucked before. Plus King will replace him when fit.
As ex-president Peter Summers said:

Re: Cordy vs Owens
Apart from Membrey, no players in the reserves could possibly be ready for senior selection except to fill in for opportunities due to injuries/suspension (which they might get).
We had 5 teenagers in the team yesterday, all of whom contributed, plus Bytel and Byrnes, who aren't much older.
Sandy lost to Frankston VFA yesterday. That alone tells me that nobody stood up. No games should be gifted.

It seems structure looks like B.M.'s arse. Can be no other reason than RTB likes the structure of B.M.'s arse.

RTB might like that particular structure but Mr Siposs thought it was a stinker.Ghost Like wrote: ↑Fri 21 Apr 2023 8:59pmIt seems structure looks like B.M.'s arse. Can be no other reason than RTB likes the structure of B.M.'s arse.
Will we pick up a player in the SSP window
